What's going to eventually happen if we're only taking the ones from the most violent war-torn and poverty-stricken parts of the world? I think if we're primarily taking in from countries people are trying to flee from in large numbers, there's an inherent selective bias in the type of people we'll be getting. Which begs the question, if there's a war somewhere, couldn't we just pay another country -- preferably a country with similar level of living standards and similar culture -- to temporarily take them in? Also might be important to make sure their children are taught their native language in school so it will be easier for them to eventually go back, when the fighting ends.
