Why so many transgenders lately?

"Trans" people are coming out of the wood work at what I think is a suspicious rate. In the 80's, I remember being troubled at the number of what I considered social drinkers "going into rehab." Two of my friends went in and they decided I probably needed to go in too. They were just looking for validation from me. (One of them, I admit, did nearly kill himself drinking a few years later.) In the 90 and 00's, I became suspicious of the numbers of people "coming out" as gay. In both cases, I thought too many of them were just seeking attention and/or jumping on a bandwagon; it was chic to be in treatment, and It was chic to be gay, especially lesbian. You could tell by the gratutitous "I'm gay, you know!" announcements. As Elton John told Ellen Degeneres, after her repeated announcements, "Okay, you're gay. Fine. Now shut up." Not "conceal it," just get out of my face with it. The answer I hear often to this is, "It's so hard to be gay ... who would make up something like that? The answer is ... narcissism.

I am having the same suspicion today about the numbers of trans people, especially in elementary school. Were there lots of trans people in my high school in agony about using the boys' restroom? I think many of these people are seeing opinion pieces from the Left on discrimination against trans people, and deciding, "Hey, I'm trans too!"

There cannot have been any fewer trans people in decades past than there are now, I mean genuinely trans people. Maybe they were hiding on plain sight ... but nah, I don't think so.

To be clear, I don't think any of the boys at my high school would have filed lawsuits to prevent the girls from taking showers with the rest of us, had they considered themselves boys, I mean. We were very broad minded, we boys.

One can only suppose that, being so poorly-educated in the first place, a lot of them took a good look at whatever it is that's between their legs and thought, "What the hell is THAT?"

Consider: if there's something that's not a part of their PHONES, how important could it be...?

[IMG] . "Yeah, cool, mine's got hair on it, too...." :confuse:
