Why would I put a thread about men shaving their pubes in Latest News?

Because I think male body hair removal is the sign of a new masculinity in the world.

I was surprised when I saw these commercials on television here in L. A. It is extreme even for us. The point is Gillette is investing a lot of money in male back, chest and groin hair shaving. As I considered it a subtle changes in the 21st century males I put it in Latest US News and World News? Check out these two commercials, and share what you think. Looks to me like shaving shows off the work one does at the gym and knocks years off one's age.

I live at the beach. I am interested because it could knock five to ten years off my age. While I am married, and she likes the idea, any way you look at it, "The currency of the beach is physical appearance."

I like the idea of showing off the time I spend at the gym. What do you think?

By "new masculinity" do you mean more like femininity? Just curious.

You are a man, so why do you care about hiding your age, or showing off the work you did at the gym? Maybe you should buy a book about self esteem instead of shaving your junk and worrying about what strangers at the beach think of you.

If a man has curly chest hair.. as opposed to long stringy chest hair.. he should leave it be.

But then I don't get why adult women want to look like prepubescent girls..

 

Well, by the time I got done plucking out all the ear hair, nose hair, shaving my back, legs, toes, fingers, arms, butt, groin, taint, belly, chest, pits, neck, face and anything else, I'd be out of shaving cream, five or six razors and would have to start all over again when I got done due to 5 O'clock shadow on my back. I wouldn't have time to work for a living and would basically just live to shave until I ran out of money.

I think I'll just stick to being a hairy kraut and earn a living working on locomotives. Let the young men shave and lay on the beach all day.

 

It took me millions of years of evolution to get the hair I have and I want to keep all of it wherever it grows.

Evidently, you have not seen the front page headline story in Advertising Age where I picked up the topic. A new definition of "masculinity" is emerging, and I think it scares you. Is this a photo of your back?

Besides that, women are typically attracted to things associated with biological masculinity. Having more body hair is more biologically masculine, so some women will always find it attractive. It is also why women remove their leg, arm, and armpit hair; to distance themselves from masculinity, thus becoming more attractive to someone attracted to femininity. You think making yourself look more feminine and prepubescent is going to be the "new masculine", but what seems at all masculine about it?

I'm not sure what good "beach currency" is doing you if you are married. Do you really need external validation from some random idiot at the beach? It won't make your father love you (or insert whatever childhood trauma led you down this path)

Out where? I live in Los Angeles too, and I have never heard anyone say that. Then again, none of my friends have crippling self image problems so maybe that's why.

I've found that most women my age don't find hairless young homos lolling about on a beach to be very sexy. They find men cleaning the gutters, painting the house or doing the laundry sexy.

I've had better sex after building some shelves in her hobby room than doing the Happy Slappy Shaved Weiner Dance.

Lets just say that in many tribal societies......there is a reason you always eat with the same hand, and never shake someones hand with the other one.

 

Personally I think that chest hair is pretty manly. Shows that you're not afraid of who you are and don't cater yourself to fit others' wants/society's expectations.

I also see the point of doing away with body hair. It can get annoying at times. I feel we look better without it, regardless of society's influence.

Ultimately, who cares? If guys want to shave then let them shave. Masculinity is about bravery and independence, not body hair styles.

The "new shaved masculinity" is mainly about one thing: Corporations making a profit through marketing to a new audience. I don't think this was mentioned, but with the craze in body art this might appeal to men who want to better show of their tats.

Personally, I'm not a fan of tattoos, piercings, or excessive hair removal - but to each their own.
