Biden Should Not Debate Trump Unless

I worry about Joe Biden debating Donald Trump. He should do it only under two conditions. Otherwise, he’s giving Trump unfair advantages.

First, Biden should declare that he will take part in a debate only if Trump releases his tax returns for 2016 through 2018. Biden has already done so, and they are on his website. Trump must, too. No more gifting Trump something he can attack while hiding his own questionable finances.

And second, Biden should insist that a real-time fact-checking team approved by both candidates be hired by the nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates — and that 10 minutes before the scheduled conclusion of the debate this team report on any misleading statements, phony numbers or outright lies either candidate had uttered. That way no one in that massive television audience can go away easily misled.

Hilarious! None of these conditions were in play in the Presidential debates in 2016, or any other year. But I knew the Democrats were going to justify dropping out of the debates. Obviously you can't put Biden up there against Trump. But I didn't know how they were going to justify not debating. I guess putting up ridiculous conditions are a good start.

I expect Democrats to fall in line and oppose debates unless they get their wish list of conditions

This article, I view, as basically providing cover against the Trump campaign's desperate attempt to make more debates happen because he is currently losing. So now the Biden campaign just respond, "You want to debate more often? Hell, there's a better argument to made for debating even less given the fact that your candidate can not make it through a single press conference without telling an outright lie and your candidate is the one candidate from the last 60 years to refuse to release his tax returns despite promises to do such."

 

Biden debating trump would be like me fighting mike tyson, it would not end well.

I find it endlessly amusing how confident some feel in Trump's debating skills. He wins debates like the drunk bar patron wins, he just keeps repeating the same baloney in an aggressive manner and when he is getting beat, he throws the insult around. Some in the bar think its funny, cool, smart. Sober people know he is just another loudmouth drunkard.

 

No, Trump isn't a great debater. In debates, his strength lies in getting some one liners out and zinging the opponent. That's not exactly Oxford Union debating. The issue is Biden's mental condition. In 2012 Biden decisively won his VP debate against Paul Ryan. I don't think anyone thinks Biden could repeat that performance today. From watching the Democratic Primary debates, Biden has about 45 minutes in him before he starts to lose it.

Three, two hour debates against Trump are going to be rough on Biden, which is why there is preparation of the debate battlefield to try to legitimize Biden bailing.

They're trying to dream up ways to protect Joe from the debate smackdowns they know are coming, and it's clear by that article that they've got nothing.

Trump needs to release his tax returns? What the frick does that have to do with debates? All that is a pathetic attempt to scrape up some dirt Joe might be able to throw at Trump like a monkey flinging poo.

Fact checking? Joe can't go 15 minutes without throwing out some crazy doozy of a whopper like 150 million people dead of coronavirus, and I could just see a "fact checker" trying to make heads or tails out of the claim that Trump is a lying, dog-faced pony soldier.

How about if Trump has to debate with a bucket over his head? Or Joe gets to throw water balloons at Trump during the debate. That might even the odds a little.

I wouldn't be surprised if Biden says he'll only show up if Trump follows through with the promises from his 2016 campaign and provides his tax returns, but I'm sure they'll both show regardless. It will be interesting. Biden's biggest strength right now has been to just lay low and let Trump keep sticking his foot in his mouth, and a debate would probably fire up some of Trump's base again, so it could tip the polls a little in Trump's direction. Biden will do well if he just stays calm and goads Trump into saying throwing one of his tantrums, but he's also likely to say something stupid, particularly about "the blacks." Trump will do okay if he stays on-script . . . which I doubt he'll do, nor is he likely to prepare at all.

Trump's biggest strength will be his energy and showmanship. Biden's biggest strength will be that he'll prepare and be more likely to actually answer questions instead of dancing around them.

Did I say interesting. Honestly, I don't know if I'll even be able to stomach watching this **** show. I feel like I've already talked myself out of it.

 

I'm still waiting for that "corn pop" story of Biden's to be fact checked.

 

I can't wait until they fact check all the claims Trump will make about Biden's sweet and innocent little lamb of a son.

 

Trump's possible response. "I cannot blame Biden's handlers since obviously Biden is no longer mentally competent enough to debate me. Hell, I'd be willing to debate his V.P. selection instead. After all, she will be the real Dem Party president if her party wins." I suspect that for some reason the political Left would not find such a response amusing.

Republicans are so devoid of a method for attacking Biden because he is a white male whose lone drawbacks (creepiness, mental acuity, etc) are all 10x worse for trump that they are left trying to argue against Biden's theoretical VP pick because at least she will be a woman and likely be of a different color than white.

 

I dont think Biden's handlers will let him debate. They are going to hide him behind a black woman and any criticism will become racism.

Presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden said that police “become the enemy.” He also supports the Black Lives Matter push to “defund the police.”

 

I don't think he can get away with that. His campaign will try but he himself is one arrogant SOB. He will want to because he thinks he smarter than everyone else when in fact he is dumber than soup. If Trump is disciplined enough he will destroy him based solely on Biden's new left turn and Trump is a master troll. Once he gets Biden flustered Biden won't be able to string two words together.

 

The Trump campaign has agreed to three and the NYT is now trying to give Biden cover to get out of them.

 

It's a shell game. They want to pay attention to every Biden gaff and bury every Trump gaff. Doesn't matter that the guy can't remember where his father was born or that he thought there were airports during the Revolutionary War.
