I don't believe Gingrich is going to get it. His idea that the Palestinian people are an "invented people" shows his tendency to say things without thinking about the consequences. It's going to be Obama vs. Romney which sits better with me. Either way we're not going to get a "mean-spirited" who hates the poor. But one thing I believe is going to come back to haunt Romney is his $10,000 bet that he made with Rick Perry. Obviously he made that comment intentionally to remind the GOP that he's still in their club despite his socialist views. But some may not see it that way. Do you think this gaffe will ruin Romney's chances of winning in 2012?
You're probably right but many people will perceive that as a "bizarre argument" that shouldn't be made in public - especially if you're a politician running for office.
By the way, you're a conservative. What do you think about Romney winning? I don't mind the idea because he seems to be more of an independent. At least I hope he is.
Running against Barack Obama, it's doubtful snorting coke and having oral sex with Larry Sinclair in the back of limo would keep him from winning. But you can keep your fingers crossed anyway if it helps.
I'll keep my fingers crossed until Gingrich isn't the official Republican candidate. Then I'll uncross them and watch the show. I'm okay with Romney. As long as we don't get some radical that's too far to the right is all that matters to me. I don't want to see the end to Social Security and other programs that help those less fortunate.
The bet won't effect anything at all. Romney will get the nomination, you can count on that. He's the sanest one of the very insane bunch. After he gets past the other clowns in the GOP circus he'll lose the run for president for one major reason: He's not Obama.
It's going to be a close one though. But as long as Romney gets the GOP nomination, the left doesn't have anything to worry about. Social Security will be saved and life will go on. As long as these crazy people on the right don't get their way is all that matters to me.
IMO people put too much time in watching these clowns dog & pony show off one up eachother. Fact is if you can remember the things they did in the past vs listening to their BS sound bites you would know what kind of people they are. Fact is their past actions off TV are better representations of their behavior than the crap they spew on TV. But if you are the do as I say not as I do crowd, you need a preacher or rabbi to tell you what is right or worng, than these clown conventions are your only insight to politics.
I don't think the statement about the bet will hurt his chances. I'm not sure he will secure the nomination, but if he doesn't, that will not be the reason. Personally, It's not how I would have responded to Perry, but I was not in the least offended or otherwise bothered by what he said. Then again, I am a man, not some candy ass that looks for an excuse to whine when a little breeze touches my skin. Just my thought.
That's why the left loves him and the right hates him. There's a home over here Mitt away from those evil people!
It was INTENTIONAL. He wanted to remind the Republicans that he's still the richest person in the room - even though he's somewhat of a socialist.
I didn't take it that way. Rather, I felt it was an off the cuff remark, likely because he allowed Perry to irritate him a bit by bringing this up a second time. But obviously, I could be incorrect. I'm not inside his his head. lol And, I respect your opinion, although we may have perceived the statement differently.
You can't be a politician if you don't understand psychology. Knowing how people will react when you say something is very important. When Obama told McCain that we need to "spread the wealth" that was intention. He knew McCain would run with it and it worked against him. Telling a bunch of average Joe's that you won't spread their wealth isn't a very smart move - it makes them want to vote for the guy who said it.
I trust him. He never cheated on his wife..his taxes..or his country. He never flipped on his religion although that might have been the easy way out..convert and win. He balances more than budgets. He balances the country and re unites America.
I vote no. I intend to vote for Obama but don't hold this against Romney. He is a very wealthy man and $10,000 is a very small percent of his net worth. It's like me betting $5 or $10.
