I'm female and I've never hit a man and to classify all women as irrational, emotional twits says more about you than them. It always cracks me up when a man doesn't have the merit to attract a decent, good woman...so attracts women that are as limited in wit, wealth and intellect as they are, then complains that all women are like the type that will tolerate someone like him. If you're around twits that's because of who you are as much as who they are. But don't assume that all women are anything like the kind that are around you. As far as defending yourself, it isn't gender specific. Anyone who is violently attacked should have the right to defend themselves if they are in harm's way. But if this is happening to you a lot because of the limited company you keep...read the first paragraph of this post again. Maybe you need to work on you.
Actually, you're wrong, Renee. I do know I am a misogynist, just like you know you're a feminist. It's called misandry, cupcake.
It always cracks me up when women assume they are more intelligent than men. You have no clue about who I am, or the women I date. You make your comments based on your own bias and prejudice. "...so attracts women that are as limited in wit, wealth and intellect as they are," Maybe, I am so far beyond women in wit, wealth, and intellect that I call bullshit on your lies? Maybe? Ok, so you're next point of 'logic' is, because all the women who I meet are ****ing stupid - that must mean I'm stupid, too. What philosophy course taught you that, sweetheart? You should get a refund.
LibChik, I don't give a f**k if you got a penis, or a vagina; if you assault me, I'm gonna f**k you up. Any questions?
You attract what you put out there. And stupid people never believe they're stupid. That's what makes it even funnier.
If you had basic reading comprehension, you'd have grasped that I already said people should be able to defend themselves regardless of gender. I think the idea that a woman can hit a man and not get hit back or arrested is f'ing ridiculous.
Oh my little sweetie pie you Pride yourself on hating women and it’s so apparent because you’re so insecure that you think someone who stands up for her rights must hate men. I hope you don’t have a daughter
I wasn't suggesting that they don't....only that some women don't think they should get arrested. There is sometimes a double standard where some women think hitting or slapping a man is ok. I've seen women actually do that in public.
Strawman...I said that each gender has the right to defend themselves. No one...woman or man, should be putting their hands on another person without their permission. Women slapping, pushing, punching men in the arm or chest, etc...not ok.
I agree with just about all that has been stated in the thread, BUT it would be helpful to be aware to not use disproportionate force when going on the defensive. I'm not defending militant feminism. I'm just pointing out that if it is not a man's intent on harming a woman attacking him, but just to defend himself, then he needs to be aware of how much more physical strength he has that can inflict disproportionately greater harm to the woman even if it is in self defense. For example: If a woman slaps a man in the face, the bruise if there is any would be much lighter than the bruise the man can inflict with a retaliatory slap. Therefore if self defense is necessary when cooler heads cannot prevail, it would serve the man better to grab the wrist of the woman instead of slapping in retaliation.
The laws should treat everyone equally. If a man can hit another man in self defense, then suggesting that he can't hit a woman in self-defense is sexist. Of course it would be fairly difficult for a man built like The Rock claiming that breaking the jaw a woman who slapped him, to prove it's self-defense, but that would be true if a much smaller man did the same thing.
It's a pejorative like accusing somebody of being in a cult. It's a general term for people who always seem to find on a daily basis a reason to rant and accuse others of assaulting the dignity of women or their rights. For example: if women on a beach or by the pool are in bikinis and I enjoy the eye candy, the militant feminist would accuse me of assaulting the dignity of women by viewing them as pieces of meat instead of fellow human beings and then would deny me the simple pleasure of being in the presence of beauty by telling women to cover up. The militant feminist would also deny me the right to use sexual innuendo with my sense of humor while in the presence of women. And even when only in the presence of men, I will still be accused of being sexist for speaking in such a way. Militant feminists are against freedom of speech and would accuse people of thought crime. Militant feminism has a lot in common with religious fundamentalism.
Just curious would you consider a black person militant who would not find your racist innuendos funny? Would you see them as taking away your freedom of speech? I am a feminist and I am not against your freedom of speech but I do feel kind of sorry for you because of the threat you see. I remember being a militant feminist because I wanted to get a credit card in my own name when I got married and was working. I remember being a militant feminist when I was paid less than a man for the same work. I remember being a militant feminist when I wanted reproductive freedom. Militant feminist really is a term to squelch strong women who fight for their rights. Luckily we ignored you and the rush Limbaugh crowd...
I would not find the black person militant if he did not like my jokes (not that I'd personally make them), but I would consider them militant if they attempt retribution beyond shunning an unpleasant person like physical punishments. And by the way, I support equal pay, married working women getting credit cards in their own name and reproductive freedom. But I do not tolerate accusations against me that somehow I want to keep women down simply for enjoying their beauty that in all cases women choose to flout freely. I can desire a woman for either her beauty or her ability to take care of herself and make great contributions to society, or even both in some cases.
We're not discussing children. We're talking about adults who should have the ability to control themselves and be responsible for the consequences of their actions. I find it a little disturbing that you're comparing how you react to a child the same as how you react to a grown woman. No one has the right to put their hands on any other adult without their express permission....and if they do, that person has the right to defend themselves.
I do workshops in prejudice awareness and There are several kinds of prejudice.… One is acknowledged prejudice. Like you said, you would never make a racist joke but yet you have no problem making sexist jokes that is a sanctioned prejudice. We would never use the N-word as a pejorative for a black person but will use the word bitch for a woman as a pejorative . II am glad that you think women should get equal pay and get their own credit cards and reproductive freedom. I was one of those women that fought for those rates and guess what we were called? Yup, militant feminist Who are these people who are putting you down for enjoying their beauty? I am sure you admire handsome men as well. It’s when we objectify women where there is a problem. You don’t have to worry about walking down the street and getting hooted at. I remember meeting my husband at his office and he was looking out the window and he saw all these construction workers making comments to me and he noticed how my body language changed . He said that he walked there’every single day and never even noticed the men. How would you feel if gay men thought they had the right to hoot at you and touch you Inappropriately?
Touching is where I draw the line and get angry. I've personally had a mentally handicapped elderly woman slap my buttocks while leaving church once (before I became an atheist). Had it not been for her condition, I would have created a scene. I would definitely call out sexual harassment when it comes to touching somebody inappropriately. As for catcalling, well that's complicated. I honestly don't understand the motive for men doing it. If a man desires a woman, he can just be honest about it and speak to her in an ordinary manner. There's nothing to gain from catcalling. I've never personally experienced it, but if I did, I imagine it would be a minor annoyance of which I'd either tolerate or confront the person. What I would NOT do is call the police.
