Look at everyone in this thread. Salivating, sniping, and yelling at each other...over a RUMOR. A book written to be sensationalistic in order to make $$$.

I think that General Milley was of the belief that Trump was so crazy and he was surrounded with gutless lackeys who woud do anything he said. Therefore our country was in danger. I am sure that Milley will no doubt be grilled by the press and members of congress soon.

    Is that what he said?

Maybe it was more like “look our president might look like he is a few eggs short of a carton but don’t launch a first strike based on that alone

Now how many “off the record” conversations did Trump have with Putin, and others

Milley was/is a competent and sane care taker who came to the conclusion that the inmates had taken over the asylum. Milley's loyalty is to the Constitution, not a lunatic president and under no obligation to follow illegal orders.

WHAT??? What does Trump's conversations with a foreign leader have to do with a Military officers? I would advise you as a foreigner not to stick your nose in this as you don't how our government works and chain of command and civilian leadership of the military and who is the COMMANER IN CHIEF and what that means.

Sure, it would be nice to have all those thing fall into place but if you're on a call with a partner out of control, you have to make a choice and that is to find a way out of it with the least amount of damage possible. When your supervisor is beating the hell out of somebody or holding a weapon on somebody who is NOT non-compliant, there's no time to call in for witnesses and paperwork and approvals. The good guy is one trigger finger away from becoming the bad guy and your backside is on the line too if that shot makes it to its target. The target doesn't even have to die. Both officers are on the hot seat. However, I wasn't in military. I was a police officer in Chicago.
It sounds like you know more about this specific incident than what I've read so far (which was just one short article). If Trump gave the command and he disobeyed, yes. But, Trump didn't give a command. How did he subvert his superior's authority?

Conversely, let's say they were working on the 25th. The POTUS would still be in command until that happened, so, theoretically, could launch at any point before that process is completed. Is that how it would typically work? There's no process for temporary relief of nuclear codes until the 25th has been voted on?

Milley didn't sabotage Trump. He sabotaged our Constitution and the civilian control over our military.

He most certainly should be court-martialed.

I'm trying to understand your position but I don't. How was the president betrayed specifically?

No he was turning his back on the Constitution if the reporting is true and why they are denying it as nonsense and he would never do that. What you are saying is that if the military does not agree with the civilian leadership then they should take over, take control, a military coup. You want to live in that third world country. The Founding Fathers specifically stated in the Constitution the military reports to the civilian leadership.

Seems that all the Generals that worked for Trump, save Flynn, had nothing good to say about him.

Old because that would lead to a military investigation and maybe just maybe a review of the idiocy that someone like trump could endanger the whole world because, well because….

They're denying it, we'll see. Biden needs to ask him face to face and demand an answer.

By law, the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff, is a key position in the national security process. Trump had fired the Secretary of Defense and appointed an "Acting Secretary" without Senate approval. Trump had also written a memo ordering the immediate withdrawal of all U.S. forces from Afghanistan, without consultation with Milley or the National Security Council. Milley is under no obligation to follow unlawful orders.
Also...other cabinet members had either been fired or resigned being replaced with "Acting Cabinet members." That also effectively blocked the 25th Amendment removal process. Milley was correct in being concerned.

His office says Pelosi called him and he rebuked her demands. Her unconstitutional demands.
