Would you support torture in certain situations in prison

okay would you support torture for some people? like that idiot in the aurora shooting..... should he be tourtured?


I say yes.... everyone should be equal. so if you commit a truly evil act you deserve an equal punishment not just a slap on the wrist.

 

Torturing the mentally ill? What would that prove?

I think people should have the choice of lets say losing a hand, or doing a 20 year jail sentence.

i guess but people would go crazy after doing that. prison is good it gives people time to think about what they did. i dont think letting someone who earned a 20 year sentence out immediately is such a safe idea. even if its only with 1 hand

 

Exporting prison culture is one of these worst things we do today!

 

In almost all situations, I am opposed to torture. But I would approve of it if it was only used on the worst serial killers who tortured their victims.
To be eligible, the criminal must have had to kill 3 or more people, on at least two separate occasions. And there would have to be absolutely no doubt that the criminal killed those people, the standard of proof should be even higher than for a normal life sentence punishment, or even execution. I want to make absolutely sure that not a single innocent person would ever be tortured by the government. I know people say that about the death penalty (although we never can really be 100% sure), but I absolutely mean it here.

So what sort of torture are we talking here - burning flesh? Branding? Removal of body parts such as testicles or gouging out eyes or that all time favourite - cutting out the tongue. How about the Iron Maiden - not the group but the device with all the spikes inside that had you slowly bleed to death over hours and days

 

Torture, as everybody knows, causes the tortured person to go along with the torturer's fanatasies, so it is useless as a source of information. It is just a means of urinating on our humanity.

most of the people in prison will be out one day, torturing inmates just means they will be even scarier when they get out and while they are in the guards will be at risk of a backlash

prison is bad enough, sleeping with one eye open for 20 years... remember the people they are sharing rooms with...

 

Taking a persons freedom away is daily torture,,not much worse than that you can do. An hour of torture is nothing compared to that.

Besides, how do you deter crazy people?, you cant their crazy,,,remember? and why Torture a person who may not actually be responsible for being nuts.

I would, do not and will not support torturing a person. To me, when a person reaches the point of torturing another, said person is beyond redemption. There is never any need for torture, regardless to what the accused is alleged to have done.

Yes- some crimes are so heinous that in my gut I want the person roasted on a spit- but I think it is wrong for society to engage in torture.

no actually. this would be for people who commit the most evil crimes like raping children, mass murdering, etc. people who are in for life anyways.

im not saying torture your average theft criminal, just the pure evil ones.
