WOW! The First COVID-19 Vaccine Was Made in 'Record' Time and Just Given to 45 People in Seattle

I wonder if they are using alum as the adjuvant. I hope that they aren't, there are newer alternatives to alum.

Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health says the United States has developed a vaccine for the coronavirus, COVID-19, in record time. Fauci made the statement at the White House update on the coronavirus.

He told reporters that the first vaccine was given in Seattle on Monday.

"The vaccine candidate that was given the first injection for the first person took place today. You might recall that when we first started I said it would be two to three months and if we did that, that would be the fastest we've ever gone in obtaining the sequence to being able to do the Phase 1 trial. This has been now 65 days, which I believe is the record."
Fauci told a White House briefing on the coronavirus that 45 people in the coronavirus hot-zone of Seattle were given the vaccine and will be watched over the next year to determine its efficacy:

"What it is, the trial of 45 normal individuals between the ages of 18 and 55. The trial is taking place in Seattle. There will be two injections, one at zero day, the first one, then 28 days. There will be three separate doses, 25 illigrams, 100 milligrams, 250 milligrams, and the individuals will be followed for one year, both for safety and whether it will induce the kind of response that we predict would be detected. So it's happened. The first injection was today."

Yeap this is what Trump was talking about when he said we would have a vaccine in two months or so. The question is how and if they fast track the approval and without risking major side effects, typically this is a slow process. That's the tricky thing about this but at least if successful this Corona Virus will be a one off vs some of the others.

 

This would be absolutely amazing if true and it works.

 

It will be interesting to see how the political Left deals with this news item. I wonder how many of them will insist that if Trump were a true leader he would have begun the research into the Wuhan Virus a few years before it hit China?

Obviously, Any News (of this type) is better than nothing.

But, why would anybody be jumping up and down?

We ALREADY KNEW that it wasn't going to be widely available for over a year.

So? What was the Big Deal (Again)?

So What?

It still won't be readily available for 12-18 months.

It isn't like 2 months from now it is going to be a Magic Bullet.

Trump's Cheerleaders should take that REALITY into account.

So, given the development in the OP...We Are STILL...12-18 Months from a vaccine.

Back to doom and gloom I see. You do realize that this is probably the best news about this virus since it hit our shores? Throwing shade on it sort makes you look like a, well I'll leave that to the imagination.

No doubt if Biden wins they will scrap this and start over, wouldn't Trump getting any credit...

It's NOT "rolling out".

This is great progress. But, what we're seeing is a Phase 1 trial of one of the vaccine candidates being created.

If this particular candidate proves itself, it will move to companies that know how to grow and productize vaccines.

Hopefully, we'll see other candidates enter Phase 1 testing. Depending on one candidate vaccine isn't great.



How about we listen to the experts - for once!!

 

I'm more in favor of truth from the start.

It's easier to trust those who tell the truth.

It's possible to do personal planning when we get the truth.

It's not one candidate, they are testing on ages 18-55, this was just the first one injected with the vaccine. No one has said it's going to take care of today's issue but as done with testing fda approval will be allowed to fast track and if successful I bet the testing becoming broad in a hurry. This is a big win for the world if it works and private industry will be able to produce on mass scale when needed, something the Federal Government has no chance at doing quickly.
