Sometimes I wonder why some businesses have a telephone. I called a business today to employ their services and a computer voice told me to leave a message. Then another computer voice said the mailbox was full. They lost my business. Other times when I call a business, I have to listen to all their automated choices -- none of which are the reason why I called. Then the choices are repeated over and over. Some businesses must have only one tech because the wait time for a tech can be almost a half hour. Then there's a very polite person taking your call, but they have a heavy accent. Good luck understanding them. I called a service company the other day to discuss a bill. After I finally got a real person on the phone and no progress I asked to speak to a supervisor. A supervisor came on the phone and after our discussion he said he had to transfer me to the bookkeeping dept. Twice he broke in while I was waiting and said no one was picking up the phone in bookkeeping. I hung on for 20 minutes and then hung up. I used to have three mutual funds with a brokerage house. The last time I called I was told my wait time was one hour. I was told to "Continue holding because your call is important to us". I moved the three funds to another brokerage house where a service rep answers the phone when I call.

"If you know your party's extension dial it now."
Punch in some random numbers and see what happens.
