Too many people are far too disinterested with how their minds work, or for that matter, what constitutes reasonable thinking. "Coherency" is the quality of parts being efficiently coordinated within a 'whole'. It is that state of "sum" referred to in the statement, "the sum is more than the parts". It is incoherent to think you can act from a place of accurate knowledge when you are ignorant of the control parameters which govern your functioning.

All of the above might feel like too much to digest. What is a 'control parameter'? In bacteria, it could be the presence of glucose in its environment; its also the rate by which its molecular structure begins to dissipate. Thus, the external object - glucose - is tied together with the dissipation rate of the molecular 'whole' of the bacteria.

Such control parameters exist for humans, but we relate to these truths, which reflexively is experienced within as the constraints on our knowing, in a very dissociative and idealized way. This happens because we are animals who ignore the most obvious fact of being an animal: there is good, and there is bad; as a corollary, there is right and there is wrong. In behavioral sciences, this is called "safety" and "threat". In biophysics, where homeostasis is treated as the only relevant framework to explain organismic function, there is the 'coherency' of being in a higher-level symmetry with your environment; and there is the incoherency of entropy - the dissipation of heat loss that arises from the 2nd law of thermodynamics, the loss of usable energy to the environment.

There is an obvious and clear continuum from the way molecules work, cells work, organisms work, minds work, and how societies work. All things are regulated by a 'center', or a 'window of tolerance', where functionality is ideally expressed.

The worst thing about ignorance, from the perspective of a knowledgeable person (necessarily someone widely educated in the natural and life sciences, philosophy, and history) is that a person never knows what it is they are ignorant of, and therefore, how their ignorance insulates them from recognizing a problem, which, with knowledge, would be created, and therefore a motivation for fixing the problem would emerge.

Today's world has managed to inculcate a mentality which is continuously reinforced by popular media - the "matrix" of smartphones, pop music, rock music, country music, TV shows, radio shows, shopping malls, movie theaters, amusement parks, and all the other dissociation devices, or "thrills", used by the elite to better conform the human mind to their personal agenda (more or less self-enrichment at the expense of others; with some metaphysical frills to make it seem 'essential').

This does not come from no where. To say that there is an "elite", is a platitude in one group (intellectuals), and a cliché to those who hear the term, but don't appreciate the reality of its meaning. Suffice to say, the 'narratives' used by rich people to regulate their feelings - which express brain dynamics - is very much built to deal with the guilt associated with the asymmetry of inequality which emerged over 12,000 years ago in fertile crescent, and developed bit by bit, narrative by narrative, to become what is today a wholly egomaniacal philosophy for life, that does what a philosophy would be likely to do for a person who wants physical pleasure - mediated by money - and also the glory of being "the best" amongst other humans. Not by coincidence does 'aristocrat' translate as 'rule of the best'.

A modern American oligarchy is emerging, and the mentality of this class is not much different from the one Plato sought to defend nearly 25 hundred years earlier.

By the time of the Greeks, the mythos of the elite class became specifically focused on mathematics as the highest science. The Babylonians were probably the source of this orientation, but the Greeks went far further than they did in their elaboration of mathematical principles. Plato's 5 solids are imagined to represent the 4 elements and the 'quintessence' - or 'fifth element', being the icosahedron. A whole metaphysical doctrine, or explanation from reality, was imaginatively supposed to be associated with an element. This was "science" to the ancient Greeks.

Now, in the face of modern science, many of the dogma of Plato, Aristotle, Empedocles, Pythagoras etc, are simply not justifiable, and this also includes Plato's idea of a "ideal realm". Like the earlier explanation for elite mentality, the truer explanation for why Plato posited the existence of an ideal realm were the stakes tendentiously embodied in his brain circuits: he was born an elite; he was himself an elite amongst elites; he sought to preserve the advantages that came with the social license and social power of what he lived. And so, his mind tendentiously reasoned in ways that had a desired outcome: to preserve his advantage.

The circularity of this process is how all of nature works; things are recursive - they follow the same tracks again and again. And so, the human mind works the same way, with perception constantly modifying cognition through the property of 'being affected' i.e. by feelings which represent "what something means".

In any case, humans can only have democracy if they have 'eternal vigilance', as the saying goes. Like a virus, certain belief systems propagate in certain minds that are advantageously situated within the social system, and this can't be expected to change anytime soon.

Rather, the only way humans will survive, or care to survive, and not collapse into total nihilistic nightmare where care is forsaken because it is too painful to lose, is for us to recognize crucial facts like 'neuroplasticity', which is the scientific description for how the brain can generate new neurons and other cells, implying that social support and concentrated focus is 'neurogenic'.

A belief that you can change, that you can become smarter, starts from the recognition that you are nowhere near informed enough about how things work - how there are people adamantly focused on deceiving you ultimately to your own destruction (what a horrible motivation! I know,) how you mostly never cease being propagandized too, so long as you are watching T.V, surfing on your phone, looking for more 'juice' - more meaning - which the magicians who control you know you are too weak to resist, too ignorant to recognize as happening, and therefore helpless to their shapeshifting presence.

To care about science is to care about the wellbeing of your self and the wellbeing of other people. Wellbeing and truthfulness are the entangled; we cannot be 'well', if we don't recognize that our minds - through feelings - constantly inform us about what is and isn't important to us. The clichés of culture stereotype our interpretations, which means, we can't ever get near the truth about what we are until we acknowledge our fundamental vulnerability - our shame - because we are a social creature being forced, unnaturally, to live as "independent agents", "individuals", who follow laws wholly different from other human biophysical systems. When stated in such a way - biophysical system - the illusion of what you are is shattered: you are the most complicated coherently organized object in the universe, yet too many people are disenchanted by this fact. The facts of love - of together - are wiped clear from consciousness by the force of "coolness", by the force of sexuality - hence the hyperfocus in the mainstream media on sexuality; is your focus is geared and wired to focus on sexual relationships, you can hardly keep track of your mind, since your mind is always attuned to the "rewards" that come from "acting this way" - to "being cool". This is a deliberately - and now, almost scientifically - exploited behavior that elites, via popular culture, are exploiting more and more, even blandishing it under the cover of 'care' for the 'rights' of gays, lesbians, transgender, etc. Identity states like being "poor", and "socially disadvantaged" i.e. far more real and urgent causes of suffering, are ignored, while the liberal cult of sexual identity enforces an agenda that keeps people self-organizing according to the force of sexuality, which efficiently canalizes 'self-states' towards those cultural clichés which are so widespread today.

All of the above seems "common sense" to me. It doesn't seem that complicated, although I am quite aware that many people might not understand much of it - perhaps no more my fault than theirs; just that my situation in life has allowed me to read and learn quite a bit; whereas other people have been 'pulled' in other directions.

Nonetheless, the world is following very discrete laws; the fascists are on the brink of transforming our world more thoroughly than ever before. They succeed because the vast vast majority of people do not know themselves, and so do not know what is required to resolve conflicts - to plan effectively for change - and to act with courage and not fear.

I fear for the state of this world; for the state of the knowledge of its people. Ignorance is hidden behind ignorance; a false satisfaction with the status quo - with ones own knowledge - prevents the recognition of ignorance, and the pestilent nature of it.
