YouTube is about the most conveniently accessed site for an entire
range of How to and products, dated and new.
However it's run like a stalag.I just found out one of my favorite
YouTube site members got permanently deleted and his entire account
Including near hundreds of hours of crucial videos are now Gone.
As if they never happened. The guy is a real good guy. Not political
in the least. Most all his videos concern old radio and TV repairs { mostly
tubes vs. solid state } and his varied expertise on how to troubleshoot
for fixes.he occasionally does some weekend outtings video off in
secluded spots, far from the reach of normal mortals and uses his
Ham operator expertise to communicate. He's also a survivalist of sorts.
He lives in the heart of Los Angelos and is quite brilliant on many levels.
However I don't think he has much in the way of net worth.
WHATEVER. He was a great American and a really good guy.
YouTube used a form letter to explain his banning. It never explained his
infraction { was it copyright or spam etc. }.
Youtube is being used by this Government along with Google to
spy on all of us.I think therein lies the key to why they regularly willy-nilly
pick certain members as a way of sending some message.
Do Not Dare Even Attempt To Question Authority.

I mainly watch youtube to learn how to do things.

If I buy a new gun, I watch assembly and disassembly videos to help understand how to clean the gun.

I learned some car maintenance on youtube.

I learned how to open and install extra memory in phones.

I catch up on current events and news stories on youtube.

I watch other stuff that people suggest, sometimes. Sometimes it's useful.

Sorry about your friend. (the guy you followed)

The guy was an electronics repair expert. But mostly Tube radio's & TV's.
I know what got him.It wasn't that he occasionally ran segments of the
Simpson's while showing a TV repair job and technical stuff like alignment
    and contrast and correct bias.
He made an off the cuff remark while tuning and fixing a Tube Russian
short wave radio. As he was flipping thru the stations on AM he said.
    " It's scripted.All the Local News { he's in Los Angeles }. It's all the same.
Same scripted news like NBC,CBS,CNN.It's all the same ... scripted. "
I believe that's what got him.

Since youtube is privately owned, there's not much we can say about that.

I also learned how to replace the springs on my garage door.

Youtube is owned by google, BTW. It's their right to kick people off their site. Unless he's foolish, he should still have those videos on his home computer.

Said YouTuber has been reinstated. Here's what he thinks happened.
Since YouTube is so huge with so many video presentation it is physically
not possible to moderate w/o the use of some form of robotic or
software applications that detect things like Spam & Scam.
Since said YouTuber also had many Private Video's ,he may have been
banned because he was using YouTube as his Private library of stored
    videos.Uploading raw files directly to YouTube { like old schematics }
all of them Private and then assembling them into YouTube editor.
Which is what THEY recommend because that's how you get the best
video quality.Said YouTuber was uploading a lot of clips for his repair
videos and he wasn't deleting them.
Thereby creating on his account a large disproportionate ratio of
unlisted videos to private videos to public videos.
YouTube is NOT in the business of being a storage server for people to keep
    their personal videos.
    Drat ... Doggone it.
There goes all My Sweet Georgia Brown,Miss Crabtree personal files of
    days gone by.
    Aw Schucks ... ma.
    Do I gotta.
