Calm the heck down, merely noting that a small man in stature was a decorated war hero. Bottom line up front, size means nothing, it's the size of the fight.

I heard this all years ago prior to IFS. I've been in long enough to know. I wasn't talking about fellow aviators and Airmen, I was talking about in general and generally with the civilian population. I've never dealt with disrespect in the fighter community, and anything negative said to me has never had anything to do with gender. It was/is because I screwed up. It's not overly manly, even though some of the traditions paint that portrait, but us ladies are more than welcomed in it. Again, the problem is with people outside the community.

Also, I was never overly feminine to begin with. I can't tell you when I have ever worn make up prior to my wedding. But the Air Force definitely took any semblance of it away.

My dig was more at the ass grabbers involved with Tailhook. The whole profession took a hit, not just Marine and Naval aviators. I was in at the time...
Minimally we should act as the professionals we are. Sometimes I think the military enables this sort of boorish behavior.

Needless wordiness.Audie Murphy was a great example of a guy who was short but
very large in War.So large he easily became a Hollywood Icon.

I've not seen a case where anyone in a leadership role has allowed any such behavior to exist. Differences in times I guess.

It's friendly conversation between Herk and I. It always is.

It's only gay if the balls touch.

Oh, I agree. A person can't be judged by their height .... or lack of it. But being tall is a man thingy.

When my son was around 10-12, he started whining about being 'short' compared to his friends. Well, he was 1-2" shorter than most of them. I talked to him, my bf who was 6'2" talked to him - nothing seemed to work. When I took him in for a physical I asked his dr to talk to him about his 'shortness'.... His dr checked him over and did whatever drs do to determine whether the growth was normal or not, I guess and asked me questions about the men in both families. My son's dad is close to 6' and has men relatives taller. My one brother was 6'4".... on and on. He told my kid he was going to be a pretty decent height. He needed to hear that from his dr to shut him up..... He started growing fast around 14 and ended up 5'11". That's tall enuf....

Medical came up w/a system now for parents to determine how tall their kid will be and they're different for boy & girl.... you measure the child at 2 yrs, xx months, double the height and that's how tall they'll be..... I think I have that right - kinda. I'll check it out later if I remember.......

Audie Murphy was an exceptional guy. I remember reading the list of his medals - didn't think I'd ever get to the end of it.....

To me,and this is just personal,But I feel the mark of a BaD Mom is when they treat their
son or son's height as if a status symbol. My Ex Sister-in-Law did just that.I was so close
a number of times to setting her straight. But that is one area that has to work itself out.
Growing pains an all.But it is something that can ruin a child.Like the way Kathie Lee Gifford
CONSTANTLY Bragged, almost Ad Nauseam about her Cody and Cassidy. She went to such
ridiculous length as to inform daily { Regis and Kathie Lee } the progress Cody was making
as an Author,in like First Grade. Then of course getting into the height business as if an
automatic sign of Manhood,as the years grew forward. The problem was,Kathie Lee actually
believed her precious Cody and Cassidy could Be literally anything they wanted, and she
encouraged and constantly bragged about every new wrinkle of their " supposed "
prodigy development.Country Club Mom's are the same way. It's more a status symbol
for the parent to project their own shortcomings at being good at something in life.
Kathie Lee recently made news by bragging about what determines if a Mom succeeded
in rearing their kids. She very haughtily bragged on the fact that her Kids have never, not once
ever gotten into trouble like so many of Today's Hollywood stars { Brittany Spears or Lindsay Lohan}.
    I think it proved how classless a real B!tch Kathie Lee truly is.That she would Lord the Fact;
maybe her Kids are just lucky.Any Kid can fall prey to temptation or becoming incorrigible.

I've been stuck at 5'5" since I turned 17. I actually have always wanted to be a little bit shorter tbh because I think petite girls are cute! My mom is shorter, like 5'1". I would have settled for about that height! =3

I remember Gifford's continuous bragging about her Cody. It's good, it's normal to be proud of your kids, but when you start boring the rest of the world w/your never-ending bragging, these people shouldn't be surprised to find less people coming around.... enuf is enuf...... I didn't know she had another kid b/c I quit listening to her.

With my own son, I didn't give his height any tho't, much less worry about it b/c it is what it is if he had inherited my 'short' gene - which my oldest daughter did - she's 5'1". When my kids were little, my youngest daughter wasn't eating enuf to feed a bird and I got worried, called their dr and he said 'don't worry about it. The child isn't growing right now. When she starts growing again, she will eat everything that isn't nailed down' and he was right..... she ended up 5'7"....

Not all petite girls are 'cute' - for some reason some of them seems to think their 'petiteness' is an accomplishment. And many end up as wide as they are tall. You should see this one neighbor of mine who's so proud of her 4'10" height. She is HUGE! Then try to find clothes to fit that under 5' height and large body - that would be quite a headache.

I don't watch television, except when the NFL is on DirecTV.
Or when the wife insists we watch some really old movies on the DVD or VHS (yes, I still have a VHS player that works)

So your Jersey Shore quip is lost on me, sir.
