OK Maybe I'm being a bit of a bully here but I really get bugged over the way people advertise their Real height. Let's be really clear here. Dick Clark { American Bandstand and - The $20,ooo Pyramide - was SHORT. Just watch any of his early roles. He was NOT 5'9" as listed at Imdb. He was far closer to 5'6". Clark,a Good Guy,energetic & clean cut was Obsessed with his height. It's the sole reason he couldn't make it as a Star, let alone a leading man.He was Handsome and had Great hair. But he was Short. He refused to allow that fact to be acknowledged. That is why he had a RAISED stage for his - $20,000 Pyramide - and you won't find much mention about it.Clark was good at creating an Image. But he could never overcome what God Gave Him.Therefore he did everything in his power to manipulate it from the pubic. Mickey Rooney never suffered that expediency. I have a problem with those who think it's OK to conceal their true height from the public. What brought this up.I'm watching a Movie with Ruth Gordon and went to Imdb to check her listed height. No way is she 5' 1". She isn't even 5 foot tall. Did any Y'all know Judy Garland wasn't 5 foot tall. She was 4'11".
And that's the way it is for many short guys, celebrities or not - they have a hard time accepting their shortness..... sad. It's not height that makes a man a man.... I have a neighbor who says he's 5'7".... the 1st time he said it, I was surprised by his lie b/c I'm 5'2" and Mike isn't more than a inch taller than me. He's said it a few more times and I just let him live w/his fantasy. No point in upsetting him by correcting him......
I'm 5'8 and have been since I quit growing at about age 16. My Sweetie is 5'7 and had me convinced for nearly two months that I was in fact taller than that, 'cause our body styles are so different, apparently I look wayyyyyy taller than her when we stand next to each other. Doesn't matter though. I'm still shorter than mikezilla.
I really don't want to start rumor here but I saw all the early Dick Clark movie roles of the 50's and the guy was definately short.I also knew it had become an Obsession with him.He was very keen on being a Movie star. I think he decided early on to use what was known as elevator shoes. They give a couple inches added height.Just enough to make it appear he isn't short. I think that goes to the character of a man.Dick Clark had a lot of character, except in his height. In that he was a petty person.I don't like that in a person. The obsessive nature to control a person's image. He also combed his hair in a Pompadour style which adds height.
Which is Why you'd never find a pic of Dick Clark next to Tom Cruise. Clark went out of his way to manipulate any photo-op.
Not so fast ... Quick Draw .... being Tall is also a disadvantage. Not like TOO big Hooters. But on the same level. A Happy Medium is best. But then who decides best. Why the gods of best.Who else. There must be some gods of best.
it does make it easier to get stuff off the top shelf, but then ppl at various stores ask me to get stuff off the top shelf for them.
Lady Gaga is also very short. How many know she stands barely a tad over 5 foot. Because she too hides it.With her traditional Killer High Heels. This all goes to character. When a celebrity tries to hoodwink their fans.

Most female celebs wear heels, regardless of height. Offhand, Jeri Ryan does, she's 5'9" tall. Ditto for Geena Davis, 6' tall! Gaga is 5'1", IIRC...rapper L'il Kim is 4'11". (Hence "Little Kim".)
I used to be 5 foot 10-1/2 inches. But after injuring my back in my 20s and the effects of aging, I'm now down to 5 foot 9 inches. My partner is only 5 foot 6 inches. There's a lot of height diversity within my family. My maternal grandmother was all of 4 foot 8 inches. I have a brother who is over 6 foot two inches. My other brother's son was already 6 foot 4 inches by the time he was 15 years old. I don't think he grew much beyond that, though. Every time I bump my head on the light fixture at my mom's house, my partner serves up a "gee, I never have that problem!". I still forget that he can't always reach stuff that I can. There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to extremes of height or the lack thereof. Shoe shopping was a nightmare for my tiny grandmother.
Quite a range in my family, also. I'm 5'9-5'10", my wife is 5'8". My stepfather is 5'5", my mother is 5'. HER mother was 4'10". My father is 6'9". My brother (a Marine NCO) is 5'3". My wife's best friend is 4'5". Clothes are a problem for her...she often has to get teen girl sizes. She CANNOT get nurse shoes, they flat do not exist in her size. I work with a guy on the other end of the spectrum: he wears work boots in size 15EE. IIRC,. my father wore size 17EEEE.
Oh DRAT.What pray tell have I started. Another Charles Atlas advertisement. Let me guess. You have a hidden fear of beach sand.
MORE ... much more information that this Thread calls for. I want to hear about Celebrities. Not yer doggone Family. Like who cares about yer Family. If I live to be 100,I doubt I'll ever care a whit about yer Family.
Uh No what pray tell have I embarked upon. I was simply trying to start a discussion over what prompts famous people { Celebrities } to feel the need to LIE flat out about their true height.Or how they hide and manipulate.
Why do all you Internet Trendies Always use the contemporary excuse " I have no idea what you're saying ".Ignorance is now rampant. It is the New Social Order. I mean, there was a time not too yore ago when every kid on the planet knew about Charles Atlas and how he had sand kicked in his face when at the beach on a date with a chicky pooh.Which prompted him to start bodybuilding. In this ignorance is also as useful as that shiny new Red Wagon parked conveniently next to one's sand box.
It's not a "contemporary excuse"...it is a simple STATEMENT OF FACT! Your posts are bizarre word salad, resembling the ramblings of a mental patient.
So tell us all where you learned to differentiate between the " ramblings of a mental patient " and just the casual comings & goings at yer favorite Looney Lodge. I mean now that someone got yet attention after yer widdle afternoon nappy.
