Acting NSW Police deputy commissioner Mark Murdoch, Kingsford Smith MP Peter Garrett, Australias First Bloke Tim Mathieson, Randwick mayor Tony Bowen and Coogee MP Bruce Notley-Smith walking the walk. A thousand men unite to stand against violence towards women. God bless these men. http://southern-courier.whereilive.com.au/news/story/sydneys-white-ribbon-walk-at-coogee-beach/
Because she's only concerned with her own gender. But besides that, it's a noble cause still. Here in Los Angeles, we have an organization called LACAAW that puts on an event for Denim Day every year. One of my martial arts instructors was an advocate for the organization and a few years I performed in a self-defense demo.

Sorry, men make up at least 70% of domestic violence victims and the % is rising. This is men being attacked by their female partners. Studies also show that a large % of women who are the victims of domestic violence attacked their male partners first and so the men were attacking them back. These studies are of course barely reported.
Because women are more vocal and it's a cultural taboo for men to admit to being a victim by a woman. Hence a men's march wouldn't have many people show up. There was a video circulating a while ago that shows a woman get on a bus, but was unable to pay. So the bus driver asks her to get off and she gets in his face, assaults him, spits on him. And he decks her. Then the general response to this video was outrage at the Bus driver.
Look up. This is the Women's Rights section. After putting up with years of sexist men bashing women in this section, I thought it was time to raise some women's rights issues. No doubt I'll be bashed around for daring to raise women's rights issues. The fella's that come to this section only seem to like threads that put women down. Ironic a Women's Rights section should be pretty much only used by men and not women on this forum. God forbid, that a woman should starts threads in the Women's Rights section.... And actually speak of "Women's Rights".
I bet i've been to more anti-domestic violence/anti-rape rallies than you have. I'm quite the advocate against abuse. I just don't like people who's agenda is anything other than Justice, and Justice should be blind.
Oh goodie. Cops that deal with the dregs of society suddenly feel guilty about violence towards women? I think their jobs are getting to them. MOST men DO NOT abuse or are violent toward women just like MOST women DO NOT abuse or are violent toward men. This belongs with the infamous 'war on women' that Obama tried to claim Romney was a part of.
Good grief. I feel sorry for you. The evidence and statistics of domestic violence perpetrated by men on women is STAGGERING. But you go ahead perpetuating myth if it makes you feel better.
No, the myth is that it is mostly men being violent to women. Studies show that most women think it's ok to hit their male partners for quite a lot of reasons. He won't do the dishes, he won't admit he's wrong, he won't stop watching sports...................
NOWHERE in the White Ribbon Campaign does it say that MOST men abuse or are violent towards women. NOWHERE. It ACKNOWLEDGES the MAJORITY of GOOD MEN that do not abuse / are not violent.
http://www.oregoncounseling.org/handouts/domesticviolencemen.htm Just a quick link. The numbers that you will find online place Men as victims at a rate between 22% and 40% of instances. My personal opinion is that it's on the high side as it's socially discouraged for men to be portrayed as victims in domestic cases. So she is right about it being skewed towards women as victims, still doesn't mean you need to dump on guys who think that justice needs to be equally applied regardless of demographics.
I think you need to go and read up on domestic violence. Then come back. The evidence and statistics are there to be read.
Well if MOST men aren't violent toward women then why the need for marches and campaigns? Why do you feel the need to carry a Women's Rights banner? What's up with that? Are all of us MEN supposed to feel guilty somehow? I mean, what is your POINT?
Yeah she can kick him in the nuts but if he clocks her and gives her a black eye.....He's going to jail. (just talking about the minority) I think.
LOL... you do make a point... Nobody has ever tried to say, "ohh really? I didn't know rape was wrong. my bad." But there are proactive actions that can be taken to limit the chances one will be a victim of violence, including self defense classes... and that is why Awareness needs to be kept awake.
Which rights are you suggesting women have more of? If you say it's because of having a Women's Rights section here at the forum, then don't worry, because it's predominately used by sexist men that come here to bash women. Women generally don't post here... and women's rights are rarely raised. It's been mostly men that post here that whine about women.
Oh, God, lucky me, one woman surrounded by a group of men in the Women's Right Section. The fact that women don't post in the Women's Rights section but men do would make for an interesting sociological study, lol. Enjoy yourselves, fella's!! The floor is yours!!
I'm not saying Womens Rights are bad, and i'm glad people are taking a stand against violence against women. But, why not take a stand against all violence?
