So now we're supposed to feel good because we're not quite as badly off as Syria, South Sudan and the Congo? I would hope it would go without saying that my comparison is to other DEVELOPED nations that don't have actual WARS going on at present.

And I don't recall any mass shootings of this magnitude in Mexico recently. Matter of fact, I don't think there have been any this bad in any of the nations you mentioned for some time, though no doubt there have been war losses in all nations that have wars going on at preset.

Hotels don't install cameras in hotel rooms. That would be an invasion of privacy. The cameras in the hallways will show if anyone exited or entered that room, other than the shooter. They aren't the poor quality you believe them to be.

I just googled the definition for the first time. Militias are always associated with an emergency, and are called forth. They aren't meant to be what today's militias are, which seem more like gun clubs. They are supposed to be raised by the community or region. Ordinary citizens with guns are a prerequisite to militias, which the founding fathers thought were essential to the security of a free state.

I've never seen a closed-circuit camera system yet that yields a good image -- especially when covering a large or long span of distance. For many years I worked with many different and very large surveillance systems. No matter how expensive they are, they're all mostly crap.

The 'good guy with a gun' discussion refers to people with concealed handguns reacting to and taking down shooters inside schools, theaters, whatnot. In this situation, handguns are useless.
You either do not understand this, or do understand it and hope no one will notice.

 

Terrorists also stockpile guns. I haven't checked the news today but as of yesterday, there were 4 indicators of terrorism:
1) Daesh has recently made Las Vegas a target in their propaganda.
2) Daesh claimed responsibility.
3) Overseas travel by significant other + mass shooting usually equals terrorism.
4) He shot from the Mandalay, and the real Mandalay has experienced a genocide of Muslims in recent weeks.

More indicators for terrorism than anything else at this point.
