    Are you seriously pretending you can't tell the difference between a pregnant woman and a fat one? (Hint: pregnant women carry the majority of their additional weight centered in one particular area ;) )

    Are you OK with a fat kid who can't play any sports, unless he moves to Japan and becomes a sumo wrestler and will suffer with low self esteem for his entire life, unless he takes Santas advice?

    Come on man a grown adult has no business talking to a kid like that....Regardless of the truth of the words there is no reason an adult should tell a kid who isn't his own that they are fat.

    I'm fine with kids being kids and picking on each other but grown adults have no business picking on children.

    The child is obese and too old to be sitting on Santa's lap, and nothing that Santa said was incorrect. The kids parents ought to listen. If the parents went to a doctor or nutritionist, they would have gotten EXACTLY the same advice. Lay off the fries and burgers, why? because the childs life depends upon this

    Yeah but thats something you say to the parents not the kid...An adult has no business hurting a kids feelings for the sake of making a point. If the family went to the doctor for a checkup or something the doc isn't going to tell the 9 year old he's fat and needs to go on a diet. The doc is going to tell the parents that their kid is overweight and needs to go on a diet for the simple fact that telling a kid that is likely hurtful to them.

    It'd be different if the kid was a teenager or something. This kid is in like what the 3rd or 4th grade? Adults have no business talking to a kid like that.

    We had kids in our police department and we polive apprentices got each 3 kids to show them evrything. I had a fattie in my group as well and made some jokes about him. So what?

    If you made jokes about a kind to the kid then you are a POS and that doesc not stand for police officer savant it means that your behavior, emphasis on behavavior is not proper for any adult.

    Or does the First Amendment,
    not apply anymore ?

    Lots of points for insensitive and maybe inappropriate, but hardly a great crime to fire him over.

    Perhaps a Santa Clause Class teaching them what not to say ?

    Seriously. The amount of folks defending the fact that a grown adult man said something like that to a kid is a bit shocking to be honest.

    I have to wonder how many folks have children here and would be defending me if I walked up and told their kid that they stink and need to learn what bathing means or something. I highly doubt that anybody on here, in spite of what they claim, would be ok with me walking up and telling their kid that in the mall and would just stand idle and think "Well you know maybe he was right".

    When your'e so fat that Santa has to remind you to eat less, the proper response is to eat less, not get mad at Santa. How does the song go," You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout......................................He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake" Santa is no slouch. And the onus is on us, not Santa. The Parents failed that kid. And Santa was not cruel to him. Just gave him a friendly reminder. The kids feelings were hurt, not because of what Santa said. But because nobody else ever told him is wasn't okay to be obese. I commend the Santa guy. Took a measure of courage to go against the decline of American culture.

    The guy is playing Santa Claus....a childhood fantasy character. Insulting one of the children who comes to talk to him is probably grounds for termination in a field where your sole job is to be nice to children....

    And no the First Amendment does not give you a blank canvas to say or do whatever you want. Your employer sets your First Amendment parameters, not the Constitution. Insulting your consumer base is not covered under your 1st Amendment rights. Take a job in customer service and tell one of the customers to go F themselves and see how well your First Amendment rights protect you lol
