First coronavirus death in the U.S. happens in Washington state

Just me guessing but...no.

But if we want to use actual numbers we have at hand and not “what if” and “could be” numbers then 2% -3% is accurate.

I’m think US death rates will be lower, under 1%. But I’m a optimist so who knows.

Iran, that crap hole is like 10%, surprised it is not more.

 

Then the death rate is much less than 2%, as most infected people never show up at the hospital

 

They are just dying in ditches then? No one is noticing? During a world wide focus on Corona and mysterious dead bodies in ditches are ignored. Weird that...

 

We have the best health resources in the world, so one would hope we would see a lower death rate...or at least the same as other 1st world countries. Iran rates are not surprising given a relatively crummy public health system.

We only have tiny sample sizes right now. We quarantined everyone repatriated from China and all the people we brought home from the cruise ship. 100% of those people have been tested daily and most did not get the virus. They tested negative. Of those who got the virus, one has died.

 

The accurate death rate is deaths per individuals infected.

The reported 2-3% death rate is only death per individuals that show up at the hospital with pneumonia.

They aren't testing the population, so they don't know the number infected.

2-3% is likely close to the death rate for any pneumonia, severe enough to be hospitalized, due to any of a large number of pathogens that aren't corona virus. These happen all of the time and kill tens of thousands anually

 

We're in "containment mode" right now, where we are quarantining anyone from places where infections were known. We've tested healthy and unhealthy people....and the data seems to suggest approx. 2% of those testing positive.

Now there's one. In a nation of over 300 million and this virus has been around for weeks. Plus we have very limited data on the victim and if there are any contributing factors. No reason for panic...

 

I am no expert but I don't think you can say (from what I read here) that the US was NOT caught off guard.

 

No, they objectively and very much absolutely do not want ****ing open borders.
