    If the GOP pushes a conservative nomination through now and then the Dems take the Oval and the Senate, they can just change the size of the court to 11 and add two liberal justices nominated by the Harris administration, I mean Biden.

    Which would be completely hypocritical and unfair in light of what McConnell and Senate Republicans did (or more to the point, did not do) the last time a president nominated a SCOTUS justice in an election year.

    And that would set a very dangerous precedent for changing the size of the Supreme Court solely for political reasons.

    What's to stop the next time the Republicans control the Senate and presidency from adding a dozen seats to the Supreme Court all for a Republican president to fill?

    He has already said that if he loses, it's only because the election was rigged. Since its possible that we'll once again have an election decided by the court, what's to stop him from stacking it in his favor? Ethics? Honor? Trump has no concept of these, and neither does Mitch McConnell.

    I wonder if Harry Reid still believes Supreme Court nominations should be heard during election years.\


    Politics aside, you have to feel like this was a loss for the country. An extraordinarily accomplished woman has died.

    Because when this happened during the Obama years in election season the Republicans raised royal hell about how he shouldn't be appointing anybody until after election day.

    I want the Supreme Court stacked with Conservatives as well but I am no fan of hypocrisy. If Republicans pulled this with Obama then they can't all of sudden be ok with it now that the ball is in their court this go around. I am no fan of something being ok as long as your team is doing it but somehow magically not ok if the other team does the exact same thing.

    Wrong is wrong and right is right and no those things do not shift parallel to the political spectrum. If Republicans said it was wrong for Democrats appointing Justices during election season then it's wrong for Republicans to try to appoint Justices during election season.

    POlitical reason? Are you kidding? and not giving Garland a hearing was not 'political' ?

    EVERYTHING, including wiping your butt, is political these days.

    With a 6/3 court in favor of repubs? NO way are dems going to let that stand.
