    we are already on the brink of civil war, things like this could be the thing that topples that balance

    if they do, I predict this country doesn't last another 10 years

    Generally, I’d be against such majority, but this year I’d love this to happen just to see progressives start throwing feces at each other! The televised meltdown would be of historic proportion that would go into history books thousands of years from now. And we will get to witness this epic zoo in real life!

    What exactly is going to change the course for the better? The last thing that brought us together as a nation was an attack on our soil, but that evolved into negatives with wars and hatred and we continue that downward spiral.

    he's president-his choice-with senate approval. Hannity is praising Ginsburg without reservations. When Scalia died, the hate from leftwing talking heads-like Mad Cow was stunning.

    they will of course, but there is a frothing-at-the-mouth-electorate to watch out for, and an immense battle of personalities in the coming weeks.

    Watch for the word 'hypocrite' to be tattooed on McConnell's face.

    I suspect this is what will happen:

    1) President Trump will nominate a new Supreme Court justice by mid October. Probably the woman who was reportedly the highest on the Federalist Society's list after Kavanaugh.
    2) McConnell will announce that the Senate will not hold hearings on the nomination until after the election.
    3) If Trump wins or Trump loses but the Republicans retain control of the Senate, they will not hold an actual confirmation vote until well into 2021. Enough for McConnell to make at least some claim of upholding the principle he suggested

    4) If the Republicans lose control of the Senate in the election McConnell will proceed to ram through a vote in December. After all, at that point what has the GOP to lose?

    Do you believe hitler was like that as soon as he took over.. nooe took a few years. It would take longer for trump because the laws that he has to erode first. Give it time and he will. You think it is coicidence that he is in awe of brutal dictators. Or talks like a schoolgirl giving them all the secrets? He wants what they have not my fault ppl are brainwashed the writing is on the wall.

    well your definition of freedom is far different than many of us who are actually tax paying voters in the USA. You abhor our right to keep and bear arms as did the late Justice Ginsburg.

    it will happen, both sides want it, and if this happens, they could get it

    it's sad that republicans had to cheat and change the votes to 50 and steal a pick from Obama, if they now change the rules again... that means rules mean nothing

    Things always swing back and forth. Remember when Harry Reid used the nuclear option in 2013? Well now John Roberts is the swing vote on the SCOTUS because of it. Understand this, anything your side uses will eventually be used against you.

    It is kind of fun watching everyone change their opinions 180 degrees. Democrats now want to wait until after the election and let the voters decide and republicans want to rush things through. Will there be a sizable contingent on either size that stick with their original views or does political gain overrule principles? It will be fun to watch the news over the next few weeks as everyone comes up with new arguments to support their reversal.

    My best friends at Yale started the federalist society. Sadly I was too busy as a law student and a varsity D-1 college coach to help found it. But they are brilliant folks-two are top law school professors, three were supreme court clerks, one was Acting Attorney General, and one was a senator, another a congressman.

    I've been watching Maddow, even listening to her when she was on Air America radio back in the 2000s, and I don't ever recall her, even once, evoke an emotion which any reasonable person could construe as hate. In fact, the act of ascribing that emotion to her, for which, in point of fact, there isn't a drop of hate in her entire body, is, itself, an act of hatred, noting your disparaging term for her.

    so, if you have evidence of said 'hate' from Maddow, please provide it.

    change it back to 60 votes and yes, remember, republicans changed it to only 50 votes for Trump... it was 60 under Obama
