Because fundamentally at this point, to invoke the words of Hillary Clinton: What difference does it make? Can you get January 6th back? No. Did the voters reject Trump in November? Yes. Do you have faith they'll do so again? I don't see why they wouldn't.

So the issue becomes, can the GOP articulate a different vision than Trump and you can't do that with a leader who has no interest in doing that, but instead "going against the big lie".

The GOP does not want a 'different vision' It wants money, and jobs for its members.
The GOP no longer exists as a political party. It does not want to even change policy. This is a total empty vessel with only the exterior structure in tact. There isn't any overriding principles left on which to rebuild a political party. They have thrown every last one in the toilet. The GOP's only goal is to define specific demographic groups/ minorities both at home and abroad, as villains out to crush american society and institutions, cement the stereotyped groups through these conspiracy theories, then exploit the resulting fear, distrust and anger as motivators to rake in the dough . The vessel really exists to funnel the money and checks to the RNC and the Trump superpac and to funnel govt jobs and paid partisan positions to loyalists .

Its just a politically themed Ponsi scheme now, with Trump as the chief marketing consultant and protector of the brand.

 

Way I see it, limited protections could've eventually become full protections if the wall is there and the migration system is under control. But that was the hallmark of Pelosi's speakership tenure. Couldn't get anything done, had no concept of moving a needle to a goal and was/still is the most ineffective speaker of our times.

Your points here are consistent, but that's not what I see happening. Cheney isn't saying abandon issues and focus on the Big Lie. She's saying, until the GOP tells everybody the truth, and stops acting like Trump is the party leader, THE GOP WILL NOT BE FOCUSSING ON ISSUES.

You have it backwards. It's because of the GOP's blind loyalty to a loser ex-president that the GOP has no principles, no policies and no leader. Trump is the problem. Cheney is trying to tell her colleagues that, but at this point, I doubt she cares. She looks mean. I'd be scared if I were McCarthy.

It is not her job to pick the candidate and that includes actively campaigning against a candidate.. That is an abuse of her powers as chairwoman.

 

Look, President Trump may choose to run again (he has the right under the US Constitution), or he may choose not to. Even if he does run, it is questionable whether he would get the GOP nomination. If he chose to run as an independent then it is very likely that he will lose hands down. What he is doing right now is the same thing that AOC tried in 2020. He is endorsing candidate of Congressional and Senate runoffs. He is having some success at doing that. What Chaney should have been doing was bringing the RINO's and Trump supporters in some form of unity. But instead she chose to attack Trump Supporters, that underlined her past sins in terms of the GOP. She went along with the DNC in calling President Trump's challenge to the elections "the big lie". In my opinion, the jury is still out. The fact that the DNC is trying to rewrite the US Constitution and overhaul the national election process (that they claimed was infallible after the 2020 elections) underscores those questions. She also voted to impeach President Trump with out any hearings on the charges, without a ponderance of evidence and After the President had left office. With her past sins, the fact that she has chosen to alienate a substantial block of the GOP and her constant looking back to 2020 is the reason she was ousted.

Fear, anger, and loathing was the Democrats stock and trade from 2016-2020. There's not a conservative or independent who was spared that howling in the wind. It was as loud as Trump(and as we can see, it still is.)

The Liz removal is simple: A lot of people moved on, and some people can't.

 

It's the truth of what happened. If the GOP wanted to litigate "the big lie", they would've kept her as chairwoman. But they didn't, because they don't. Their goals are to get a competitive field out for 2024, not to care about what happened 5 1/2 months ago.
