We currently have two important trials taking place. African-American people should be paying very close attention to the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in Kenoha, Minn. and the trials of the three White men who lynched Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia. If ANY of these men are found innocent, it will be a clear signal that it's open season on African-Americans. It will be obvious to us all that the USA justice system favors Whites over African-Americans even when there is video evidence of the White person's guilt.
I think the guys who were attacking Rittenhouse were white how is that making an open house on blacks?
Yes. I also know the reason those White people were protesting was because an African-American man had been shot in the back 7 times. So, it involves African-Americans indirectly.
Rittenhouse shot white dudes... clearly it was self defense, but even if it wasnt, how you figure it equates to 'open season on african americans'?
rioting and looting when one doesn't get what they wanted is not the answer, wasn't on 1-6, won't be for these cases either in many cases blacks get away with crimes against whites too, works both ways, let's just hope justice is done, that is all we can do in any case
I was referring to the Ahmaud Arbery case when I wrote "open season on African-Americans". Sorry for not explaining myself better. The 3 men who killed Ahmaud cannot claim self defense, though they tried to.
Kyle Rittenhouse shouldn't have been in Kenosha that night. He shouldn't have been in possession of a gun that night. He put himself in a compromised position. Why did he think he needed to be a vigilante?
I am not sure it's much left often, prob about equal but regardless, both are a travesty of Justice equally
Why shouldn't he have been there and why shouldnt he have had a gun? Both are his constitutional right. Further to that, he was there providing first aid in a situation where emergency services were relatively unavailable, and he was armed because of the random violence going on. There was likely a degree of adventure seeking going on as well, but IMO that something humans are sposed to do, and he was putting his to use in a constructive manner. If people like Rittenhouse are expected to stay away while criminals loot and burn everything, then whats the point of civilization at all? He was attacked by violent criminals and he won the day. It should be celebrated.
You are jumping to unwarranted conclusions. Every trial should be decided on its own merits. You seem to be advocating the idea of trial verdicts being meant primarily as indicators of society's mores and disposition, in general, on race issues, instead of an appraisal of an individual incident, based on the law. Justice is not balanced by punishing people based on race, to make up for others with the same color skin, who got away with past crimes against blacks. This is misguided.
He didn’t. He was there to help and provided first aid to some. Kenosha was as much a home since his father, grandmother, and aunt lives there and he worked there so was there daily. He is an idealistic kid and now suffers classic signs of PTSD.
No. I mean a man who had nothing in his hand and had his back to the police when he was shot 7 times. Even if he was resisting, it didn't take 7 bullets to stop him. It's a miracle he is still alive.
He used very poor judgement to go into the streets armed with a gun during that protest. What did he think was going to happen? If you are openly carrying a gun, you make yourself a target. Who did he give first aid to? I hadn't heard this before. Kyle Rittenhouse wanted to play vigilante. Now he is on trial for the murder of 2 people.
I think it is more dangerous even than that. It will send a message that murder is legal as long as you use a gun
"He is an idealistic kid and now suffers classic signs of PTSD." His 2 victims now suffer the classic signs of being dead. I'd rather have PTSD if given a choice.
When you intentionally put yourself in a dangerous situation, it is not self defense. It is poor judgement.
This kid will never be the same again whether or not he is jailed. I was listening to WaPo’s doco on this and it talked of how father figures in his life would take the guns out of the safe when there was unrest in the streets and tell the boys “this is for self protection”. The whole concept that you have to have a gun to protect yourself and you are vulnerable without one is alien to an Aussie
