The OFRGV is all about infringing on the 2nd Amendment. That's it's purpose.

This is about violating the 2nd Amendment. These eggheads can't stop murders. They don't even have law enforcement authority and Biden can't give it to them.

well the problem is this-for over 50 years, the Democrat party keeps saying they want to reduce gun violence and all of their proposals are designed mainly to harass lawful gun owners or avoid harming criminals. And my default position is always supporting constitutional rights EVEN IF that might mean slightly less safety

How ridiculous of the Biden administration to address a major problem in the US. (Sarcasm for the sarcastically impaired)
Maybe they'll actually have a positive impact? Better than doing nothing.

My default position is supporting the constitution and reducing gun violence.
I believe that it is possible.

Give us a couple of examples of how they could be possibly "thinking outside the box".

What do you think they're going to do to reduce murders? Give us a couple theories.

I admit that there those that have better insight on these matters than myself, but I am interested to see what the different options could be.
Smart technology, more effective ways of cracking down on illegal guns, and stricter penalties and liabilities for irresponsible gun owners are among things that come to my mind.
Doing nothing does not seem to be working.

what is an irresponsible gun owner. you do know that 18 USC 922 can impose 10 years of federal time to those banned from possessing guns if they are caught with one. In reality, over the last 30 years, we have added over 100 million more guns-mainly semi autos-to the nation's supply and most states now allow citizens to carry firearms-either through "constitutional carry" or SHALL ISSUE permits-a huge change from 1993 and the rate of violent gun crime has DECREASED

Irresponsible gun owners come in a number of varieties.
Those who carelessly allow their guns to get int the wrong hands.
Those who allow young children to have access.
Parents that purchase guns for mentally disturbed children.
Parents that allow small children to operate fully automatic weapons at gun ranges and shows.
    Etc., etc.
Like I stated earlier, I am interested to hear what other ways to reduce GV there may be W/O infringing the 2A.
I try to keep an open mind on such things.

is parents allowing small children to operate automatic weapons at ranges a real issue? It sounds up there with allowing kids to drive formula one cars.

I want you to explain "carelessly allow their guns to get in the wrong hands"

Now I will list a few that I believe would qualify

leaving a firearm visible in an unattended motor vehicle
leaving a firearm visible in a home where those entering the home are not members of the family
leaving a firearm unguarded in a public place.

Probably not a big one but it has happened with tragic results.
I do agree w/ your other examples.

what is an assault weapon and why do the democrats want to ban them when they are used in less than 1% of all murders?

ONE CASE in history. and it was the range officer who screwed up. It's akin to an airplane business allowing a kid to briefly pilot a plane and the kid crashes with the instructor. I wouldn't blame the parents

Well, the carelessly-stored gun then didn't help him against the intruder, did it? He was lucky he didn't get shot with his own gun.

I can think of at least one more in Massachusetts.
Young kid shot himself in the head w/ an Uzi.
Admittedly a small number of incidences.
But then fully auto weapons are rather rare in public.
    For good reason.

It wasn't stored. He brought it with him when he went to the garage.

He had another gun that he shot at the inmate with.

in other words-not worth worrying about-it is up there with that circus performer getting attacked by his white tiger. Lots of press-not statistically relevant in terms of making additional laws.
