Give em a break, Trump chose the contractor so anything bad that happens will be Trump's fault. The miles of wall that have been built and not damaged aren't newsworthy like that one tiny portion.

Besides, if a tunnel is underground, there's no need for a wall. I mean, it's not like the wall blocks people and forces them to go through tunnels or anything. Remember, these are the kind of people we're dealing with here.

None of the wall is being built with any kind of shoddiness.

At least you're concerned about the wall now. That's a start.

Trump may need to hire a new contractor to finish if they didn't follow protocol.

No need to, I'm not arguing that Obama trying to remember how many states are there in the United States is an unopposed champion of superior intelligence

No, it would still fall on the company. It's their obligation to tell Trump that they're going as fast as they can while still following protocol, if he called and told them that. An open door is all that separates my office from the president of the company I work for. I hear him bicker constantly about one of his buildings going too slow and the kiss-ass building it will even tell him that he's doing all he can. So far they've held up.

Not waiting for concrete to cure is the top example of shoddiness! It's a basic requirement of any concrete constructions

Much ado about nothing by people who've decided that Trump is incapable of doing anything right, even if he's doing the right thing.

    :bored:

Be honest... How mad did you get when you ordered one and struggled to put it together?

True, but not if you value your job. I'm sure they're getting a very hefty paycheck for building the wall.

Not sure who the engineer is, or the contractor (Army Corps of Engineers?), however I’m pretty sure that Trump isn’t either. Reading some of the comments, you’d think Trump was on site with his hard hat on and barking orders.

I've received over $4k in bonuses over the past few months for my part as an employee of a company that's supplying steel for the project.

Interesting observation - Hispanic folks make up the majority where I work... not a single objection over the nature of what we're currently working on.

    Not waiting for what?

The border wall had polls attached (see photo below) to hold it in place while curing. The polls are sufficient for no wind conditions.

Whatever Trump's business qualifications may be, I don't really see product building as being among them. He's mainly about branding, which is fine, but his product development has been pretty lackluster in the past. His idea of "product" tends to be "Take something that already exists and put my name on it and call it the best." Trump steaks, magazine, airline, water, vodka, wine, etc. . . . there's no real product differentiation here, just branding. He's good at leveraging his advantages in real estate, but I have yet to see him actual create any value with his products; and I'm biased, because that's exactly what I consult on in my day-to-day work.

As for the wall, it isn't like he had any real input on materials, construction, etc. Again, his only role was branding. And don't mistake this for me supporting Trump or the wall. He's one of my least favorite politicians and this is one of his dumbest ideas.

Next time they'll use one of the tunnels. It'll take them a while, but if they really want to come, they will. ;-)

Also, at the top of the wall there's sheet material which is several feet wide (vertically), so that makes it a little top heavy to begin with and also would catch wind. So it's no surprise that with high winds, uncured concrete, and sheet material catching wind at top that an accident like this could occure. Simple error, easily fixed, not a big deal... but when the TDS is strong and it's a slow news day, well, we get threads like this.
