Sigh! Somehow the fact that not all people think alike and are equally creative and resourceful boggles the mind of some leftists. Just because you and I can and do think outside the box doesn't mean that everyone does . . . or will. It's -- oh so very easy -- for a judge to order without forethought. Reality, however, can get messy; and in this case it probably will.

And this there's THIS idiot... He's right in your wheelhouse so you get to deal with him.

Thanks for opening this general mask thread, so this article had a home...

You have to read the entire article to see the hilarious 180 degree turnabout

    SNIP
    FRIDAY
“It wasn’t a Confederate flag, it was a mask that my wife made for me, and she wanted me to wear it today. So I did, and I told my wife it probably will raise some eyebrows, but it was not a Confederate flag,” Zorn said.

    SATURDAY
“I’m sorry for my choice of pattern on the face mask I wore yesterday on the Senate floor. I did not intend to offend anyone; however, I realize that I did, and for that I am sorry. Those who know me best know that I do not support the things this pattern represents.”

Last night I called a friend who lives in Harris County. The judge was one who rode in on Robert Francis O'Rourke's popularity back in 2018.
The good news, law enforcement will ignore her order, the bad news, she is still a judge.
Thank you, Mr. President, for appointing 200 Federal Judges to the bench. May they become a beacon of light illuminating idiot leftie judges like Lina Maria Hidalgo.
"Police Will Not Enforce Mask Order in Texas’ Largest County, Say Unions"

BTW, a piece of tee shirt material and a couple of safety pins do nothing to prevent the spread of the Chinese virus. But they do make you look like you are wearing a diaper.

Reading all of the article, not only are county and city LEOs refusing to enforce this lunatic Dem Party judge's mask order but last month a different Dem Party judge overturned her order to release thousands of convicted criminals onto Houston streets because they were at risk of contracting the virus.

Ya, I forgot to include that part.
Somebody in a post above was laughing at someone wearing a confederate flag mask. So many pinheads find that offensive I am ordering a Gadsen Flag bandana just for special occasions where I know it will raise eyebrows.
I appreciate the offended poster for the suggestion.

Excellent idea. I've also noticed yet another unintended leftist consequence -- Houston is ruled by the Dem Party -- of lockdown. Murders have risen 63%. In a different thread there was an outraged leftist demanding to know how many people had to die from the Corona Virus before Right of Center people would concede that it was a legitimate crisis. Well how many people have to murder each other due to a panic infused leftist lockdown before leftists concede that it's one death too many as an unintended consequence for their hysteria?

You can make a mask from quilters cotton with a layer of hand-woven fusible fabric, like Pellon 911, in the middle. The non-woven fabric acts like a filter and the mask is washable. That is what I have been using.

Good points. It is sad watching the large citied in Texas turn blue. My son lives in Allen, a suburb of Dallas, and seeing the construction preparing for all the headquarters moving form CA and other liberal northern states shows all to clear that it is a matter of time before all sanity is lost to fools who forgot why they moved in the first place. The same can be said of Colorado and oddly coming to Utah.
I found my Gladsen flag bandana and will also throw in a Confederate flag just to further trigger those who wish to hide from US history.

Actually, I was laughing more at his attempt to deny it was a confederate flag mask, for @ 24 hours...

But if my post leads you to ordering something to attempt to support the failed Trump economy (and look like a doofus in the bargain), so much the better...

Hey, it's your money.... Gotta stimulate with the stimulus... that's what it's there for...

I personally am buying some great hiking socks online as we post... Going with the non-confederate flag style... Doesn't fly in my neighborhood (and we provided the Capital of the Confederacy)

Can't breathe through it, it molds a little better than cloth around the nose, so I angled it down and out, sneeze would go down mostly. Just basically an experiment, still have to social distance; it will not protect you. After virus gone, has the other use. If you have seen the picture of people sneezing behind masks, they are going to leak, a full face motorcycle helmet with visor down has more volume inside, so it would probably contain more; I sneezed twice in mine this morning.

Story I've heard is that these masks for the most part only protect the public from the mask wearer. They will not protect you from the virus unless they are one of the specialized masks that are not so readily available unless you are a healthcare worker and even then.....

I had a great uncle, brother to my grandfather, who, as late as the 1960s, was a working cowboy in that region. I only met him once, since my dad's family all lived in Wichita Falls, Texas and we lived in California. Uncle Dink was one hell of an interesting character.

I can only speak for myself. I have a few cloth masks, and my sneezes are nicely captured. Plus, they have found that the virus doesn't live long on porous sufaces, and cloth is more porous that chamois, which is actually animal hide (skin).

I really think you would do better to use a bandana if you can't get an actual, purpose-made cloth mask.

I believe that is correct. But even then it is effective in helping to slow or stop the spread.

She did not have to "prescribe a punishment" according to state law 418.173 which sets a limit on what the punishment may be at a max fine of $1000 or a max jail term of 180 days.

    https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV.418.htm

The order specifies that LE has discretionary power to enforce the order. Not washing your hands before leaving your house and upon returning to your house is also a violation of the order. I can still walk my dog without a mask according to the order.

    https://www.readyharris.org/Portals...ty_Judge_Hidalgo_for_use_of_face_covering.pdf

LE Unions have stated that they will not be enforcing it.

On a similar note our local government can't get any of its agencies to ticket a local restaurant that has reopened in Hedwig Village. Apparently they took a Keystone Cops approach to the violation.

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/ne...nty-backs-down-as-Hedwig-Village-15225164.php

"When Federal American Grill owner Matt Brice opened the doors to his Hedwig Village restaurant for dine-in service at 5 p.m. Friday, he risked a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail.

At least on paper. No law enforcement officers or agencies attempted to stop or cite Brice for defying Harris County’s stay-at-home order, which limits restaurants to delivery and takeout orders in an effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Several agencies, including the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Fire Marshal, Precinct 5 Constable’s Office and Houston Police Department each said Friday that a different entity was responsible for intervening."

Got it. Maybe a ghost like Halloween costume of appropriate cloth, maybe layered over tarp, with plastic eye holes, would be better than plastic tarp burka alone...because it lasts on plastic and skin longer than cloth. Designer ones maybe, with like smiley faces...should the Coronazombie stay around too long.

What I am gathering from all the experts here is there is not one case of the Chinese virus among Middle East women.
    Correct?

Yes, masks are primarily for keeping others safe from you, however, if the droplets from you can't pass through the mask, isn't it logical that the droplets from others can't get through either?

They keep changing their story on masks where this virus is concerned. I've already had it, but they don't know whether or not that makes me permamnently or temporarily immune, and they can't say whether or not even an immune person could pick up the virus and pass it along.

So, I wear a mask in public, and I add gloves when shopping. I get home, I wipe stuff down, toss the gloves, and wash my hands and the mask (mine is cloth).

Google it. There are all sorts of clever designs on masks, a new niche industry. I've seen them with snarling wolf jowls and human skulls, and well as lighter fare like cartoon characters, cannabis leaves, and brightly colored mushrooms like the flora in "Avatar." Mine are plain black (I have two) but I'm thinking of taking up embroidery.

I have access to a large number of masks both professionally made ones and homemade ones from my wife. I wear a $1.88 bandanna. The only one I can stand wearing as I can wear it loose. I do not wear one because I want too, I have too so yeah I'm faking it!

It has been fun to see people making fun of all of this crap by being very creative with mask making :)

Should not have to in the point. It's a feel good measure at best based on silly group think.

Remember the folks telling us to wear them (CDC) said not long ago not only was it not needed but in fact it was a bad ideal to wear them.

Sylvester Turner is in over his head on this one. Houston (my birthplace and where I grew up) is in for some rough days ahead with the oil price issue, he is not the man to lead them. I only venture into Houston now for Astro games and concerts, the city has gone the way of most large Dem lead cities :(
