The big corporate players on Wall Street take care to release highly suspect and optimistic figures of growth to buoy up the markets when required and then allow the real figures to surface at a later revision down, also when it suits their interests. All outward displays of support for domestic manufacturing -the true powerhouse behind any nation's economy- have ceased. Sign of the times is the US Olympians attending the London games in Chinese-made uniforms. The Fed has chosen to divorce the once proud US manufacturing sector altogether via keeping the dollar at an artificial high to force the oil prices down. While the price at the pump has reduced slightly, the strong dollar has seen to the export levels in such an audacious manner that the US trade deficit remains stubbornly at well over 1.2 trillion dollars. The backlash of the policy is an ever shrinking job market leading to more foreclosures for families unable to meet their mortgage obligations through loss of employment. There are more vacant houses in the US now, than there are homeless people. The Obama administration's secret directives for the assassination of foreign heads of state have also been met with international public disdain and disbelief. Funding of mercenary armies to begin armed takeovers of sovereign nations via long and painful internal conflicts and mass murder in addition to acts of terrorism have also gone some way to add to the swelling ranks of Americans opposed to the criminalization of their governing apparatus. The rest of the world who refuses to be a part of the misadventures of the West has been slandered, lumbered with sanctions and threatened with military action. Entire nations are being put through prolonged spells of hardship for their refusal to bow down to Western highhandedness and thuggery. This is while autocratic and unstable regimes such as those in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain are being sold tens of billions of dollars worth of advanced weapons used mainly to obliterate dissent in their own countries.
