This is JP5. Just wanted to let all of you know that as of the end of this week-end, I am resigning as Moderator of Political Forum. I have been Moderator almost since the board opened......in March of 2004. The thing I've worked at the hardest is keeping "freedom of speech" alive and well here at PF. And that meant allowing even opinions that I myself didn't agree with......but realized full-well that people should be able to express. So many of you are great debaters and posters and some have been around almost as long as I have.

But in case there were any questions, just wanted you all to know that I'm leaving on my own free will; have not been "fired".....and am not angry or upset at anyone. There is nothing to be angry or upset about. Nine years is a long time and I have some other projects I need to be spending some of my time on. I have the utmost respect for the owner and the Staff here at PF. I wish nothing but the best for PF and it's members. And I'll stay around at least for a while as a member myself......so I won't be saying goodbye forever.

Love and respect to ALL of you--
    JP5

    Where's the love folks?

The staff is weeping but wishing her the best of what life has to offer her. 9 years is a long time to grow and go through all the changes to make this place the best of the best!

I can't even imagine the hours she put in to volunteer her time here. She has solid principles she has stood on and speaks the truth when saying she has worked hard to keep "freedom of speech" here. Sure we have rules we must follow as members and staff. I give her a thumbs up for being the longest staff member along with another staffer.

We hope she will enjoy her time doing the projects she has invested in and to spend more time with her family.

We love her and will miss her as our mentor and friend with the staff.

    Respectfully,

    Jiyuu

Round of applause, round of applause.:clapping:

Hope you don't stay away for to long but I would like to thank you for all the time and effort you've put into making this place better and more enjoyable. In the time that I've been here I've always witnessed you as being fair and honest and that's something we need in every poster but especially in our moderators. Thank you for a job very well done.

9 years is a long time and probably one of the reasons PF is such a great place. I hope to see you posting and keeping in touch.

Nine years of behind the scenes, mostly negative arbitration will burn anyone out. Such longevity suggests you've done so with patience, tact, and a caring hand..... all while contributing much to the topics up for debate in the public mosh pit.

I wish you well, and do hope you'll continue on as a contributing member.

    regards,

    web.

    JP5,

As someone who has seen the other side I know you put a ton of time and work into making sure this forum functions smoothly. You were a wonderful staff member, and if I may, I fantastic person in general. I know that over the years you faced a lot of personal attacks from members, all of them undeserved and I am sorry for that. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you and hope you fill your new free time with something that makes you happy.

An icon leaves the stage. Sad day. Very sad.

    JP,

For all the years of dedication to this site you are owed a huge thank you. Its a fact you were instrumental in shaping this site into a free speech site. Anyone who knows you well, knows how important free speech is to you and how hard you fought and will fight for that right.
I personally will thank you for sharing your knowledge of how this site is run and the importance of being guided by the rules and procedures. The old school knowledge you shared was priceless.

I wish you the best. Enjoy all life has to offer and then some and then come back. lol
You just know I had to say that.
    Thanks,
    Falena

JP5, I haven't been here very long. I regret that I didn't encounter you sooner during posting. I notice that you're a DAR member, and I would have enjoyed communicating with you about hereditary-society memberships. From what I've seen posted about you here, you've obviously performed well during your tenure. I wish you the very best in your other endeavours, and thanks for keep this place in good order.

Thanks for your good work here on the forums JP5. This forum started in March of 2004... I did not know that, I joined in early May of 2004 and thought the forum had been established long before I joined. It is amazing how active the forums were in the early days. In all my time doing political debate on the internet, my time here at politicalforum.com has been by far the most rewarding... in part because of the mods and their endeavor to promote the freedom of speech while cracking down on personal attacks. Our motto here should be "attack the message and not the messenger". Good rules for civilized debate IMO.

I've come across some chronically despicable moderators during my looooong years as a latent insurgent. You ain't one of them. Wishing you fair weather and the good health to enjoy it. See you in the forums.

    JP5,

When I first joined this forum, and before I got to know you, I viewed your moderation as very one sided. Now that I've been here for about a year and a half and learned more about you I've developed a great respect and a very different opinion for you

Your departure will a great loss to the PF. Best of luck in what ever your future
brings. Hope to still see you around.

I'm sad to see you go. You are on of the few moderators who is an active poster and active in the political forums. I have not liked that it seems that more and more of our moderators are selected from a subforum community clique of friends who have a deep antipathy for the political forums here at political forum. I hope you are not replaced with yet another member of this clique.

We rarely showed much agreement, either as members or moderators. I didn't like you one bit when I first joined this site, but I came to respect you. I'll never forget how you would berate liberals who mocked Bush with childish and inappropriate name-calling, dishonoring the presidency, and I always waited patiently, as is my way, for you to slip up when referring to Obama, dishonoring the presidency yourself, so I could rub it in your hypocritical little face...but you never did...and that's how I'll remember you.

Thanks Joker. Much appreciated. I've always believed that one should be able to debate and discuss issues and policies and political leaders aggressively....but without all the stuff you mention. I enjoyed my time with you as Moderators....and also in debate on the boards. We can still debate on the board......

Here's the way I like to explain differences in politics. My mother was a Democrat---and I loved her dearly. We would have good discussions and debates about it, but the love and respect for each other was always there.
