Wow! That must be the water down the house Vodka behind the bar theory. If you just keep adding water, the bottle can go for months instead of days. Guess she wasn't a history major. That was tried by Germany in the 1920's and 30's, it took literally a wheelbarrow full of money just to buy a loaf of bread. It's what happens when people elect an absolute ignoramus for a Representative.

Sounds like she's ready to roll out Zimbabwe Monetary Theory (ZMT). If it first you don't succeed...

Hey, she also wants to provide government security for those unwilling to work. What could go wrong?

Oh? Saving the planet got too expensive for you guys?

Well... you might want to consider that the next time some uneducated moron on the radio tells you that denying Science is a good idea.

In any case, financing it shouldn't be a problem. After all, Trump promised 6% and 7% Annual Growth, remember?. That should pretty take care of the tab.

I don't care how much money the USA prints.

Subsequent generations can pay for it.

How does doing anything in just this country save anything? Our oil will just be sold to other countries, now what?

Hey! The fossil fuel corporate executives are the main obstacle and they have knowingly produced climate change while raking in billions. Now we need to reverse climate change. So what could be more just than taxing the hell out of them to pay the costs of reversing climate change?

So you thought that all countries are waiting for to buy more oil is that we stop buying it?

What would other countries do with all that oil once we have developed and perfected much better sources of energy?

BTW, you probably forgot this, but before Trump we were the World leaders in the fight against Global Warming. Meaning that we had the clout to ... "bully" (for lack of a better word)... countries who don't cut their CO2 production appropriately. And the sooner we get rid of Trump, the sooner we can get to recovering the clout that he squandered. The World needs us to be leaders on this matter.

Why does 'the world' lead US leadership? Are Americans the only people smart enough to care about the environment?

Fossil fuel corporate executives aren't the main obstacle, game theory is. You're expecting various classes of people to sacrifice for the gains of the entire planet. Whatever you or I might prefer, it's not going to happen.

I agree that they do need to carry a large part of the cost. But they're not stupid. I think they'll do it for their own good. Their main source of income will need to change within the next ... probably 10 years, or they'll be holding stock in a dying Industry.

The Science denialists haven't realized yet that what Ocasio-Cortez is proposing is for real. Sure, it's just an outline for now. And it may not be complete in the time line she proposes. But it's basically what will need to be done.

So we can bully other nations when libs approve, but we can’t bully, let’s say, Iran, when they chant death to everyone and want nukes. Got it.

The world’s largest oil companies have in recent weeks announced a series of “green” investments – in wind farms, electric battery storage systems and carbon capture and storage (CCS). These unexpected moves come hot on the heels of revelations by Saudi Arabia, the world’s biggest crude exporter, that it plans to sell off parts of its national oil company and diversify its economy away from petroleum.

    Energy companies are moving green.

Oil companies aren't the obstacle anymore. They just need to atone for being the obstacle in the past. And they'll need to do this at the same time that they shift their own business model. It is happening. They're doing it now. But they'll have to do it more intensely.

That is patently false. The deficit has been getting worse the past two years, despite a growing economy. The last time it was this high we were still recovering from the Great Recession.

Dinosaurs will die off, and the world will gravitate towards renewable energy.
Technology is there, costs just need to be lower. And it's getting there.

Do what? Docilely oversee the collapse of the industry they're leading?

They're legally obligated NOT to do that, nevermind what they're financially prone to do.

Need to be done... for who? The sad fact is that Americans, who've contributed the lion's share of the problem, are going to face only a fraction of the ill effects. The Europeans, who contributed the other portion of the lion's share, will be in more dire straits.
