The only masks which will prevent the spread and protect you from airborne infection are N-95 respirators glued to the face. The decision to wear one for those that understand the above is based completely on convenience and compliance with meaningless laws.

Wearing any mask is better than not wearing one at all.

The video does not show aerosol particles which carry the virus. Masks do not protect or prevent the spread of viruses.

I don't remember ever seeing anyone wearing an N-95 mask.

That is an illogical statement and misinformation. How do you think SARS-CoV-2 gets transmitted through the air? Does it possess some magical quality where it comes out all on its own? Every respiratory virus and bacteria is transmitted within large droplets and aerosols. The video is simply demonstrating how different mask types decreases the amount of droplets and aerosols. It’s so simple: masks work by capturing the droplets and aerosols we emit when we speak, cough, or sneeze. This is what the video is showing. They capture the covid virus because the virus is contained within our respiratory fluids. To state that masks don’t work to decrease the virus is a lie. Nobody has said they stop all the virus either, a lot depends on proper fit, number of layers, length of time being worn and so forth. A mask is better than no mask at all.

Studies have shown that a person talking without a face mask can spread infected droplets one meter away. If the person coughed, the drops can spread up to three meters or further. If the person sneezes, the distance of spread can be up to seven metres. Wearing a surgical mask or an FFP2 mask, the risk of infection decreases significantly.

In simple terms, the more virus is breathed out into a room, the more other people in the room will breathe it in. If everybody is wearing a mask, less virus will both be breathed in and out. The concentration of the virus in the air is a significant predictor of whether one will develop covid-19 or not. There are a huge number of studies that demonstrate masks do work which is why it’s better to wear one if you are infected.

    From: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2776536

Community mask wearing substantially reduces transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in 2 ways. First, masks prevent infected persons from exposing others to SARS-CoV-2 by blocking exhalation of virus-containing droplets into the air (termed source control). This aspect of mask wearing is especially important because it is estimated that at least 50% or more of transmissions are from persons who never develop symptoms or those who are in the presymptomatic phase of COVID-19 illness.1 In recent laboratory experiments, multilayer cloth masks were more effective than single-layer masks, blocking as much as 50% to 70% of exhaled small droplets and particles.2,3 In some cases, cloth masks have performed similar to surgical or procedure masks for source control. Second, masks protect uninfected wearers. Masks form a barrier to large respiratory droplets that could land on exposed mucous membranes of the eye, nose, and mouth. Masks can also partially filter out small droplets and particles from inhaled air. Multiple layers of fabric and fabrics with higher thread counts improve filtration. However, the observed effectiveness of cloth masks to protect the wearer is lower than their effectiveness for source control,3 and the filtration capacity of cloth masks can be highly dependent on design, fit, and materials used. Standards for cloth masks are needed to help consumers select marketed products.

To state masks don’t protect or prevent transmission is outright misinformation.

I, too, have been one of the 'sheep', dutifully rolling up my sleeve for every injection the experts have recommended. I'm still alive, so I shouldn't complain too much.

But, we also take lots of Vitamin C, Vitamin D (actually D3), Zinc, and Sambucus extract. However, I'm completely unfamiliar with the uses of Grape Seed Extract in combating viruses. Could you please share your perspective on this?

Going forward, we plan to delay submitting to any more 'vaccinations'. We got our last 'shots' in September, and it may be quite a long time before we queue-up for more. I've simply lost faith that any of the 'experts' really know what they're doing, or perhaps worse, that they DO know what they're doing.... Moreover, we find out, slowly, that it appears more and more likely that the COVID virus was, indeed, a man-made thing -- ostensibly to study viruses and prepare defenses for them... but, oops, they let it get away from them through carelessness and stupidity.

Actually, before they changed the definition of vaccines they were defined as " inoculants that "produce immunity to a specific disease."

Aerosols particles which transmit the vast majority of the exhaled virus go right through surgical masks. Therefore surgical masks do not prevent or protect. That is absolutely correct. What is a tragic untruth is the statement that masks do protect people who are at high risk to the effects of the Corona virus. They believe that they are protected when they are not.

In the paper, called “Size distribution and sites of origin of droplets expelled from the human respiratory tract during expiratory activities,” the researchers reported: The majority of droplets from human expiratory activities are very small, being in low micrometer and high sub-micrometer ranges. Where Papineni and Rosenthal [an earlier study] found that 80–90% of droplets were smaller than 1 μm [micron], the current study agrees, showing that these smallest particles are located within an aerosol mode, centered in the range 0.1–1 μm. (https:// www.sciencedirect.com/ science/ article/ pii/ S0021850208002036) In basic terms, masks have almost no chance of catching most of the particles we exhale.”

That is also hilarious. It’s fascinating to hear the term insurrection used to describe a 2 hour riot of ~ 200 unarmed morons instigated and allowed by police management incompetence. Why haven’t all the Capital Building video footage been released?

It's not hilarious to watch people ignore reality due to political bias. We don't even have a repressive regime that censors the truth, yet you seem to be self-censoring. I find that to be an alarming trend because it leads to extremism, violence and support for lying orange tyrants.

The reality of what happened on January 6 is clearly documented in the timeline and video evidence much of which has been suppressed. My comments are based in a reading of the facts of the day. You reveal your bias by your last sentence.

It has not been "suppressed." It's clear you choose to embrace partisan conspiracy theories, and that is just worrying. No political party should have conspiracy theories as part of its platform. No majority of people in a democracy should believe antidemocratic hogwash, yet a majority of Republicans say they believe Trump's lies about the 2020 election. Connected with this, many embrace idiotic lies about what happened on January 6 and ignore the facts and the seriousness of Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election and that the events of that day are a significant and tragic part of that.

Why hasn't all the video been released ??

Why weren't Epps and Soloman arrested ??

How do you explain the video showing Antifa changing clothes from black to Trump supporter garb ??

Why weren't forensic audits done on the voting results in Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and Las Vegas done ??

What is there to hide ??

Agreed, although even N95's glued to the face wouldn't work near as well as one might suspect. As I've asserted many times before in these sorts of threads, N95's are rated for particulate 0.3 microns and larger. Viruses are only roughly 0.1 microns in size (can be smaller). Thus, they can go right through the pores of even an N95 mask.

For those who play the "holy links" game, I'll provide one here which I've read through and find quite agreeable. It even addresses the popular "brownian motion" counterargument.

Thanks. That is very useful information and demonstrates even more dramatically the danger in spreading the untruthfulness of the narrative that masks both protect and prevent with regard to the Covid. We live in a community which has a ukelele group which meets weekly. The leader is elderly with more than one preconditions (as probably are some of the members of the group) but kept the group going with the requirement that everyone wear a mask. There is still a sign on the door of the building that they meet which requests that people wear masks to stop the spread of Covid. Incredible that some health care professionals spread this untruth putting people's lives at risk.

We have some and I've tried them but they limit breathing and are not very comfortable. Many healthcare workers apparently can only stand them for a couple hours at a time.

Well there you go, using Berenson as a source is supporting lies and misinformation. What qualifications does he possess to actually say anything about covid, vaccines, and masks. Zero is the answer. He has no education in any science. Why not provide some real research about masks because it’s obvious you are just parroting his misinformation?

Here is some real research by real scientists.

    https://www.researchgate.net/public...19_cases_during_the_ongoing_pandemic_in_India

    https://www.researchgate.net/public...ectiveness_of_masks_to_prevent_its_dispersion

    Abstract
Air-transmitted pathogens have become of particular interest for the general population during the COVID pandemic. Coughing is one of the most important spreading vector for air transmitted pathogens. To prevent and stop the transmission chain, it is of great importance to understand the characteristics of this phenomenon, assess the distance up to which the virion particles are transported and how effective the available masks are to stop the exhaled air. The Schlieren method stands as a proper non-intrusive methodology to study density variations such as the ones produced by the cough. An intubation dummy was instrumentalized to exhale CO2 at realistic cough flow-rates and ambient conditions. General spray characteristics were obtained for a free cough, while effectiveness of a cloth, surgical and FFP2 masks were assessed by analysing the penetration and the angle of the exhaled fluid into the surrounding air. The differences between the propagation distances with and without mask were quantified. The characteristics of a free cough where firstly assessed, and later, the effectiveness of wearing a mask is shown, a cloth one reduces the cough penetration a 50%, while a surgical and FFP2 one reduces it more than an 75%, to less than 10 cm.

    https://www.researchgate.net/public...Infection_-_California_February-December_2021

    Abstract
The use of face masks or respirators (N95/KN95) is recommended to reduce transmission of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 (1). Well-fitting face masks and respirators effectively filter virus-sized particles in laboratory conditions (2,3), though few studies have assessed their real-world effectiveness in preventing acquisition of SARS-CoV-2 infection (4). A test-negative design case-control study enrolled randomly selected California residents who had received a test result for SARS-CoV-2 during February 18-December 1, 2021. Face mask or respirator use was assessed among 652 case-participants (residents who had received positive test results for SARS-CoV-2) and 1,176 matched control-participants (residents who had received negative test results for SARS-CoV-2) who self-reported being in indoor public settings during the 2 weeks preceding testing and who reported no known contact with anyone with confirmed or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection during this time. Always using a face mask or respirator in indoor public settings was associated with lower adjusted odds of a positive test result compared with never wearing a face mask or respirator in these settings (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.44; 95% CI = 0.24-0.82). Among 534 participants who specified the type of face covering they typically used, wearing N95/KN95 respirators (aOR = 0.17; 95% CI = 0.05-0.64) or surgical masks (aOR = 0.34; 95% CI = 0.13-0.90) was associated with significantly lower adjusted odds of a positive test result compared with not wearing any face mask or respirator. These findings reinforce that in addition to being up to date with recommended COVID-19 vaccinations, consistently wearing a face mask or respirator in indoor public settings reduces the risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection. Using a respirator offers the highest level of personal protection against acquiring infection, although it is most important to wear a mask or respirator that is comfortable and can be used consistently

    https://www.researchgate.net/public...ect_the_wearer_compared_to_public_perceptions

    Abstract and Figures
Introduction There is a growing body of evidence to support the wearing of face masks to reduce spread of infectious respiratory pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2. However, the literature exploring the effectiveness of homemade fabric face masks is still in its infancy. Developing an evidence base is an important step to ensure that public policy is evidence based and truly effective. Methods Two methodologies were used in this study: quantitative fit testing of various face masks to indicate their effectiveness and a survey of 710 US residents about their perceptions of face mask effectiveness. N95, surgical and two fabric face masks were tested on an individual twenty five times each using a TSI 8038+ machine. Our survey was distributed by Qualtrics XM, asking participants to estimate the effectiveness of N95, surgical and fabric face masks. Results and Discussion Our results indicate that fabric face masks blocked between 62.6% and 87.1% of fine particles, whereas surgical masks protected against an average of 78.2% of fine particles. N95 masks blocked 99.6% of fine particles. Survey respondents tended to underestimate the effectiveness of masks, especially fabric masks. Together these results suggest that fabric masks may be a useful tool in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and that increasing public awareness of the effectiveness of fabric masks may help in this endeavour

    https://www.researchgate.net/public...espiratory_infections_has_been_underestimated

    Abstract and Figures
Face masks have been widely used as a protective measure against COVID-19. However, pre-pandemic experimental studies have produced mixed results regarding their effectiveness against respiratory viruses, leading to confusion over whether masks protect the wearer, or only those with whom the wearer interacts. Such confusion may have contributed to organizations such as the WHO and CDC initially not recommending that the general public wear masks. Here, we show that studies that did not find surgical masks to be effective were under-powered to such an extent that even if masks were 100% effective, the studies in question would still have been unlikely to find a statistically significant effect. Thus, such studies should not be interpreted as providing evidence against masks. We also provide a framework for understanding the effect of masks on the probability of infection for single and repeated exposures. The framework demonstrates that the impact of wearing a mask more frequently compounds super-linearly, as can the impact of both the susceptible and infected individual wearing a mask. This work shows that current research is consistent with recommendations for using masks at a population level in regions in which there is transmission of COVID-19, and that nonlinear effects and statistical considerations regarding the percentage of exposures for which the mask is worn must be taken into account when designing empirical studies and interpreting their results

Your entire post is a great example of using logical fallacies to “prove” a point. Masks absolutely do not protect or prevent. If you think they do for some reason I assume that you would have no concerns over sending an 80 year old person with diabetes, heart condition, asthma, sickle cell anemia, and who is obese into a hospital Covid ward if that person wore a mask.
