Let's clear the air, the previous Obama Administration was outspoken against settlements(and I agreed with him.) I concur that they are in fact, INTL war crimes by any measure of the Convention. The Trump Administration was num to it(but then they also largely stopped since they had acquired the big prize, the recognition of East Jerusalem by the administration.) and then they started again, in Netanyahu's hopes that he can keep his corrupt government. Now, as far as the US becoming a third world nation: I'd say so, and I'd say it's largely on the domestic front. Since, America is in a better position on this one than it was with South Africa back in the day, America could stop all this spending and funding of crimes againt humanity by listening to BDS and boycott Israel.
When the world had a boycott of South Africa, there wasn't much American interest in South Africa so it was more symbolic of America which helped a lot and UK and South Africa being commonwealth meant UK and South Africa were closer anyway so UK lead in that when it came to finance; but this is Israel, both UK and USA have a 'dog in that race' and that dog needs to be stopped; so I believe in America if America still wants to lead, that if it sides with truth, it can lead a boycott of Israel given the US and Israel relationship being one's dependent on the other meaning Israel depends on the US; and this will no doubt get my country UK to follow America on this one, and then we can boycott Israel in the West all around the world, like we did with South Africa back when Nelson Mandela was a terrorist in a South African prison cell, before he was one of the country's most celebrated heroes and peace makers.

Palestinians could have had their own nation for the last 20 years now had they accepted the Clinton peace deal in late 2000.
