    You make an excellent point about the equipment, but would new recruits know the condition of the aircraft and choose not to become a pilot for safety's sake? I'm not sure that's why the government can't get enough pilots. People will take huge risks, if the money is right. Maybe it's a pay issue, red tape, or some arbitrary requirement or rule that is preventing an adequate supply. Whatever it is, they need to fix it, and quickly.

    I'm not sure it's fair to call people back from higher paying jobs in the private sector without some kind of adjustment in compensation. They shouldn't suffer financially because someone else dropped the ball.

    When I read about the Niger attack having no air support, and then about this EO, the timing of the two events made me wonder if there was a connection. We can't have private contractors for exfil leaving American soldiers alone on the battlefield again. Why didn't we have air support for those guys? Was it due to a lack of pilots?
