    It aint just about finding out the country of origin! D'oh.

    People have to be genuine refugees, these facts have to be obtained. So any person with the means to pay people smugglers are determined to be fleeing for their life, not just fleeing for a better life.

    It must be so comfortable in fuzzy wuzzy land.

    We are more and more becoming a redneck society, and you are living proof. We still are struggling for our identity on this planet, and that shows everywhere. Political decision overseas, the acceptance and handling of boat people, or the question whether you are true blue while throwing your empty bottles out your V8 Commodores or Falcons to prove you are really one of us...

    I would like to see the statisics on per head of population basis. It wouldn't surprise me to a high rate for the Sudanese community, as they would have grown up in a society that was constantly at war and where genocide and murder was common.

    Our Federal Governments should be more careful in selecting people coming to Australia and/or ensure that they receive the apprporiate behavioural advice when they arrive here. But that might be too much to expect, as in the past, we have allowed members of the Mafia to come here (with a little help from a certain (deceased) Federal Labor politican},and those from the old Yugoslavia with their eternal, violent inter-racial feuds

    the skinheads
    the sharpies
    the turkish dragons
    the lebanese tigers

    and some smaller groups

    I think most people can adapt to Asutralian life once they get the jist of it.

    In contrast, I couldn't give a rats ass where people come from.
    They are either beautiful by character or lovely by their mind and hearts, or they are pure red necks, which we have too many.

    Just my opinion. Lots of cultures, lots of non-assimilation, lots of strong religious beliefs. People were once separated by their country. Now we just chuck em all intogether. Gotta fail sooner or later.

    There are alot of ethnic tensions that run deeper than the bull crap you see about racist Australians bashing Indians.

    The Croats/Serbs always seem to bring their hatred to the fore, usually at sporting events.

    I didn't say that it failed, did i. I said doomed to fail, as in not yet failed.

    At least you got the doomed part right.

    No, i say as more and more people from the same and different cultures start to come to OZ, things will get worse.

    Not that i care olne way or the other, but see how intollerant now people are becoming of Israel. I'm sure there are allot of people in this country happy about that.

    We have had plenty of strife with out spoken Imams etc.

    Every ethnic groups seems to have it's won political/social entity....Victorian Islamic Society...Victorian African Society....Islamic councils etc.

    No one just wants to be an Aussie any more.

    I see now the Syrian "Australian" community is trying to tell our Foreign Affairs minister how Australia should conduct herself.

    How (*)(*)(*)(*)ing wonderful.

    Honestly i'd pull out of the ME (*)(*)(*)(*)fight just to avert home grown reprisal in the future.
