Of course they can but God ordained men to be the head of the woman. A woman and a man have different responsibilities. In the Bible the older women were the ones that taught and instructed the younger woman. Elders, male or female were held in high esteem back them. But today, in the U.S, they are not regarded as such but are seen more as a burden for one to take care of. Grown children put their elderly parents in retirement homes for other people to take care of them.......this is hardly respectful to them for all that they did for their children. The Church in the Bible taught that the younger ones should respect the elders......they are wiser, have more experience and can teach them many things about life.

 

So that is it, then? Do nothing about child abuse because it won't matter until they die and meet their maker?

Has anyone asked God what his opinion might be now? Given the Bible was written a few thousand years ago, how do we know what God is thinking about this issue today?

If there was any change God would make it loud and clear the same way He did when He gave His Son the authority to change the Old Covenant to the New Testament Covenant. And both under the Old and the New Covenant the man has been ordained as the head. To fight against that is to fight against God......and no one can win against Him.

 

A Catholic could also say that states are private organisations. And more worse: the political leaders of states and economies are manipulatiing citizens with lots of different methods to think and feel in a way what's good for the leading classes and their might and money.

Yes--a priest was supposed to report it--not the bishop. BUT--this is the bishop being prosecuted here! He was a bad manager of his priest which is bad, but he is not guilty of anything "criminal."

Discrimination means to see a difference between different things. To see a difference is a sign of fitness. You are using the word "discrimination" like the word "despise" or "condemn". But no Catholic should condemn someone because s/he's homosexual. The [mis]use of all homosexuals on political reasons - because some people like to destroy the main structure of the christians lifestyle "marriage" and "family" - is a completly different thing and has nearly nothing to do with gay people. They are often only misused as weapons and not understood as children of god.

The most damaging is the way anti Catholics jump on those few bad apples and aggressively paint the entire Catholic hierarchy as bad as those offending clergies.

 

It's not hard to do considering the Catholic church is one of the most corrupt institutions in the world.

 

Catholic clergies have dual citizenship they are recognize as US citizens at the same time they are also recognize as members of the sovereign Vatican Church. That is why any offences committed by Catholic clergies are reported and coordinated with the Catholic church for proper action.

You may not want to accept this but that is the case that is why some offending priest in order to avoid local laws they seek the Catholic church for protection. The problem is those offending priest do not seem to realise that church laws can be more severe but because of liberalization, church authorities have not been enforcing church laws accordingly and the reason is fear that if they do they will be accuse of being too harsh.

If those offending priest are consider under local laws they should have already been arrested but as we know it it did not happen because of jurisdictional policies.

 

Child abuse is being address at the same time offending priest are also being address that is why millions of $ are being spend by the Catholic church to help abandon kids and child abuse victims.

The Catholic church has been carefully interpreting issues base on God`s will, this imperfect world require tough decision making that include staying clear of deep anti Catholic statements and sentiments that are aim only to destroy the church, and do more harm to the victims and aggravate the situations.
