I agree with your stock trading comment. In order to prevent every friend and relative of all the congressmen people would need to provide their stock purchases because that's how it would be done, the congress people wouldn't make the trades, their family and friends will.

If Trump made all this money, it means that he did not follow protocol and leave the businesses to his son(s)......... formally , so that he would not be tainted by gaining revenue while in office. (Emoluments clause)
