Trump said that he did not believe an outbreak in the US was inevitable...immediately after the CDC expert said that an outbreak was inevitable.

    A) Stop comparing the **** to the common flu. The only reason that the models currently project ~68K dead is because we imposed incredibly strict and draconian pandemic control measures across the country.

    B) The President has watched 35,000 real americans die. You want to trot out hypothetical lives saved after three weeks of watching 35,000 REAL AMERICANS die as a reason to praise Trump? Go for it. I will not join your idiocy, nor will the majority of the country.

Again, the NYC mayor imposed pandemic control measures before Trump recommended such and looong before the Republican governors of Florida and Georgia came on board.

And Trump agreed with Dr. Fauci at the same time.

    And the team remained intact.

The initial models which were ~ 150K assumed strict pandemic control measures.

Everyone one has watched 35K tragically die. And that is all on the Red Chinese who allowed the virus to spread globally.

    A) yes the numbers are down because of trumps quick, unprecedented actions and the numbers look more like the flu

    b) sad they are dead because of the Chinese flu, not could have been much worse but for his actions, saving millions

The initial models which were 150K were also very early into the outbreak and built on different mortality and infection numbers compared to the IHME model that showed a low end of ~35K deaths, assuming full compliance.

What would you like to say to the Governors of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota? All of whom do not have Stay at Home Orders and all of whom have seen increases in infection over the past week of 53%, 60%, 74%, 80%, and 205%?

In Iowa and S.D. the outbreaks occurred in meat packing facilities which were designated essential businesses. The outbreaks would occurred regardless of any lockdown. You didn’t know that ???

Cannot speak for any state other than Florida, which under home rule began restricting access to the beaches, forced restaurants, bars and clubs to reduce occupancy, closed schools (now for the rest of the year) and moved students to internet based schooling and some areas set nighttime curfews.

After which, based on DHS guidance, governor DeSantis closed down all non-essential business's, restaurants, bars and clubs could remain open for carryout only, no inside dining.

Now DeSantis is working on opening the state back up on a county by county basis, based on the number of total cases and the daily number of new cases, he wants to get the state back to work, fully realizing the risk of spreading the virus, weighed against the risk of long term monetary harm to the citizens of Florida.

I know based on a meeting I attended this morning this county (Hendry) is ready to reopen, we only have 28 cases of the virus and zero deaths and the majority of the active cases are people who live here, but work in Lee county (Ft Myers) or Palm Beach and most of them work are in the heath care profession.

Some of the ideas bounced around this morning are restricting travel into Hendry from the SE Tri-County area, requiring residents who travel into the SE Tri-county area to self quarantine upon returning to Hendry and maybe the same for travel to and from Lee county.

One of the questions not yet answered is, who is going to work the roadblocks and do the screening and can it be done legally. .

Facilities where people work side by side by the nature of the business, and now many of those packing houses are closed, creating another problem, a meat shortage, they already had problems with finding enough truckers to haul their product to distributors, now with employee's out they will need to completely clean the plant and have it inspected before opening, if they can fine the workers to get back into production and the truckers to bring livestock in and ship product back out.

My understanding is there is only about two weeks of meat in the "pipeline" and then there will be shortages and panic buying, I know out here farmers are plowing crops back under the ground because they cannot get anything to market, the glut is so bad, tomorrow one of the largest farm co-ops in the county is having a free produce giveaway, drive up, check off on a list what you want and the quantity, and the local Sheriff will have prisoners load your trunk, or truck bed with as much as you can carry away.

All they ask is you stay in your car.

In other words their models where BS from the get go and only served to over-blow the danger faced by the U.S.

That sort of depends on whether the virus entered the meat packing plant because of a lack of a stay at home order or it spread from that packing plant because of a lack of a stay at home order, didn't it?

You aren't saying anything new to me. Some counties shutting down is not the reason why nor should it excuse the lack of a State wide order from your governor.

He literally said that he made the decision following the press conference where trump took a more somber tone.
