The governors of Georgia and Florida resisted calls to issue statewide stay at home orders until Trump started to send the signal that he personally endorsed such.

Wish he had done something with that "much needed time." Still waiting on that list of what Trump did in the subsequent six weeks.

    That’s not his fault.

Local leaders could have taken independent action, like Trump did. Yet they didn’t, and our hardest hit areas are liberal run areas. Perhaps they should have taken it more seriously.

Simply buying us that much needed time alone saved lives. What did democrats do?

I can absolutely hold trump to statements that were moronic and objectively false/wrong at the time he made them.

Took this virus much more serious, much sooner and refrained from saying things like "anyone who wants a test can get a test" on March 6th and things like "this virus will disappear like a miracle" on February 27th.

And here is what Democratic Senators said on February 5th.

    5 February
    ‘They aren’t taking this seriously’

After a coronavirus briefing with White House officials, senators express concern that the administration is downplaying the threat. “No request for ANY emergency funding,” notes Democrat Chris Murphy of Connecticut.

So when Governors explicitly denote Trump's more somber tone as the reason why they made a shift in policy, you do not think it is Trump's fault for failing to take on that more somber tone earlier?

Incorrect, democrats objectively could not have taken the virus more seriously than Trump if they didnt take action like Trump did.

They could not taken it more seriously than Trump if WEEKS after he took action, they were still telling people to get together in large groups and mingle.

It’s the local leaders fault for not taking action independently. Perhaps if our harder hit areas like NY took this more seriously they wouldn’t have been hammered like they were. Trump took action, why couldn’t they?

Trump's magical bandaid has not stopped 23,000 Americans from dying so far.

And the one step he took is - according to every health expert - a small part of an epidemic response. Without massive testing, it is virtually worthless.

23,000 Americans can no longer tell you about the value provided by that magical bandaid.

In many cases, Trump explicitly prevented them from taking action. This was from March 18th. Governors have no authority to prevent flights from other countries and they had no authority to even approve Covid-19 tests on their own until a month ago.

FDA lets states approve COVID-19 tests

I bet if local authorities took it more seriously and took action like Trump did we would have lost less people. Especially our liberal ares that are some of the hardest hit.

They should have taken action independently

They were capable of taking action on their own such as lockdown/quarantines. Instead, dems were telling them to go out and mingle. Now their areas are some of the most infected in the nation.

My "darts" at Trump are not about parties, they are about Trump. And to whom did I give a pass? Please quote me.

Regardless of party (I've never joined one, not since I began voting in 1972), Donald Trump is a childish, bullying, narcissistic, nasty piece of work who has spent his entire life cheating nearly everyone with whom he does business. He is not competent to be president. He has gradually gotten rid of as many career professionals in his administration as he can and replaced them with bootlickers who have no experience and are as incompetent as he is.

That's the mess we're in now ... a pandemic of epic proportions, and our response to it literally limping along, barely functional. The only reason we have any response if thanks to the few experts he hasn't fired yet, like Fauci and Brix. The way those few are able to walk on the eggshells Trump keeps putting in their path is truly heroic, and they're doing it for us.

Trump foesn't care about we the people. He cares about how this pandemic effects his chances for re-election. The economy was his only selling point, and that's in the crapper, hence his little meltdowns at the podium every day, especially yesterday when he insisted, over and over, that he has absolute power.

Aren't you sick of his **** yet?

So just to be clear about the parameters of your argument, you think Trump and the Republican governors/congressmen did everything correct and made zero mistakes?

Everything he did, from allegedly “downplaying” was designed to stop the spread of panic which can be worse than the virus itself.

You can tell thats what he did, because at the same time he was taking ACTION.

Meanwhile democrats simply downplayed it, failed to take action, and have some of the worst hit areas in the nation. THeir failures are their own.

What did he do with it?

Weirdly enough. 8 of my companies employees flew back from China after the so called ban. Was it really a ban if we continued the flights?

    None of this is true.

His leadership lowered the amount of estimated deaths BIGLY. Some of our worst hit areas...were liberal. Thier failures are their own.

Opening the economy without adequate testing is endangering lives. Is money more important?

According to Dr. Fauci, by simply buying time that saved lives. Those lives matter and they were saved due to Trump. What did democrats do? they failed to take action.

    I'm not sure that's 100% true.

Many Mayors and Governors instituted quarantines in that timeframe.
