That seems like a good solution. The cake baker suffering from the conflict between the job he has chosen to do and the restrictions of his religious beliefs can accommodate both, without breaking the law. Provided he can control himself to not spout Levitical law or other abuses at people who happen to come into his shop after eating shrimp or while holding hands.

How hard do you think it would be to find a hundred people in a city who will happily convert to the 'no taxes' church and show up every couple of months to stay on the membership rolls? By the way, do you think that the first amendment protects their right to refrain from paying, if they employ a pastor to interpret some scripture of some holy book calling it a sin? I have yet to hear a proponent of the 'religious exemption' put any parameters on which laws, which regulations can not be circumvented with a cooperative witch doctor or priest and his internet 'certificate'

I used to be an atheist myself, until I read the religious teachings of Guru Joe Carter in his book on modern Sikk libertarianism. He established that the Kali Yuga (age of darkness) corresponded to the growth of the police state and that oneness with the universal truth can only come with defiance of state authority. It is our primary duty to Jivanmukta to refrain from feeding the beast, provide for the church and devote all our lives to mediation, drugs, and nudity. No cops can touch us, the IRS can't do squat, and as for the vice squad, don't make me laugh! We have the First Amendment and a 15 page holy text full of sayings and aphorisms by Guru Carter.

So if I go into a gay bar and start making out with my girlfriend, will they refuse to sell me a beer? Do gay bars discriminate against heterosexuals? I don't know the answer; I've never tried to do this.

I doubt they would be refused.

But other than for drunk-watching the gay spectacle... why would a straight couple go to a gay bar?

Usually better dance music, friendlier bartenders, better drinks. At least that's why we tended to go to the local gay bar when I was younger...

Because I have gay friends that are more comfortable in a gay bar setting as well as the place my wife and I go to are quite nice and the bartenders are friendly people. Here's a hint, there isn't much difference between most gay bars and so called "straight" bars themselves except the patrons.

The Colorado Court of Appeals can be praised for making the right decision.

Then trust me, the answer is probably no as long as you aren't taking it too far.. They will normally serve you and serve you happily, unless you are making an ass out of yourself somehow. That's pretty much a universal standard in bars. Gays, as a group, are more comfortable around straights than vice versa. We've been around bunches of them all our lives, and we have been exposed to a hell of a lot more of your public displays of affection than you have ours.
