Curious...do homophobes think they're going to "bring it all back"?

Gays back in the closet?....no public images of homosexuals or homosexuality in media or entertainment?.....cops raiding gay-friendly bars?...People fired for being gay?.....i.e. the 1950s????

Or is this like abortion....just screaming into the winds of change, and EVEN THEY know they've lost the war, but can't stop talking like they can still "win it"?

Naturally these are the same people who warn us of "Sharia Law in this country".

But I wonder if they ACTUALLY think they can roll back the tide....or if their rants against gay rights is just something to "keep them busy", given to them by Talk Radio and Fox News?

 

I believe they do think so. Look at all the things these groups have done in Russia and Uganda. They look at those countries as models of what they could do here- as if anyone in the US would like to be like Uganda or Russia. They want Biblical law to rule the country. In short- they're insane, but do not underestimate them.

 

I think they proved their ability to "set aside" their "Christian values", when they supported Dick and Lynne Cheney in the 2000s.....and never raised a fuss about their daughter Mary being openly gay.

And that example (and others) also shows why we shouldn't fear them. Too many gay friends and family even on the Hard Right. Even ol' Dick Cheney would have punched the lights out of a Westboro Baptist "God Hates F*gs" nutter.

 

I do not know of one individual who is deathly afraid of you or any other homosexual. I know some who are afraid of high places, one won't enter an elevator. Again, I know of none who fear and get cold sweats when a homosexual person is within proximity.

 

Homophobes will soon occupy the closet space occupied by homosexuals for centuries.

oddly enough, I agree with you. the term homophobia is a nonsense. I don't think those who preach against homosexuality are afraid of homosexuals at all. in my experience it's more about fear of how it may influence their kids, or the kids of their kids. most of them are terrified of having gay sons, to put it bluntly.

and what a completely bizarre and twisted thing to worry about. I have a friend who's 11 year old son is currently dying of cancer. you want worry? weigh that up.

 

No kid is going to catch Teh Ghey. They either are or are not. No one can make a straight kid gay or make a gay kid straight. I have green eyes, can someone suddenly make me have brown eyes? No. Same thing.

Amen! The hypocrites and deniers of reality are living near and around homosexual people all the time. They want to rage and whine about homosexuality, rather than accept that it is an inextricable aspect of being human. It is truly neurotic in many ways.

No, not that homosexuality is for anyone/everyone... but that it is relatively common and normal in human beings. It's not going to be ended or done away with; and it is insanity to imagine that it ever will be. Still, in a world where there are millions of homosexual people, with more potentially being born daily, it makes sense to find ways of improving the lives of all... despite the reality that there are homosexuals amongst us.

The irrational animus of abject homophobes is nothing to be tolerated; they are just destructive individuals, tearing at and tearing down other human beings... causing more problems for us all. Homosexual people are an integral part of the human race; certainly enough of them are good, decent human beings. And to allow them to be vilified or bullied by fearful, homophobic haters... should never be tolerated.

 

I'm just curious why they're wasting their time. Unless they can point to some "objective" and show that they're on the path to reaching it. But they won't...or can't.

 

I hope that homophillic bigots will stop harassing me for not supporting "gay rights", stop forcing me to be around them at work, neighborhood, schools, colleges, etc, stop intrude my life via mass media with their "rights" and stop locking me into a closet just because I find this lifestyle offensive for myself and unacceptable.

Instead of returning to 50s lets expand freedoms, lets have Gayland and Straighland. Let's stop forcing to tolerate each other. It's tyranny. Let's have freedom to walk to or walk away from societies we don't like or like.

I am 100% for equality to individuals when it comes to the govt, medical insurance, SS etc.

There should be no different rules if you are single or married. That is not the role of govt to create little silos to create niches. We are individuals, have individual liberties and the govt needs to address individuals and that includes tax codes.

So, to continue down the path we have been on where the govt is allowed to create little niche groups I cannot support. If you were looking for plumbers with butt crack rights I would oppose that as well. We are going in the wrong direction but my observations

If the govt somehow states that gay marriage is now approved then I will seriously get involved in incest marriage. Why should 2 brothers or 2 sisters or dad and daughter be denied? Not sure what rock you've been living under, but the Democrats most certainly have gotten things done for us- DADT is gone and DOMA nearly finished. 9 states have now legalized same sex marriage, with Illinois preparing to be the 10th. We're moving right along.
