"President Trump made six false statements in the span of two minutes during his commencement speech at the Naval Academy on Friday, according to defense expert Todd Harrison."

"Error #1: The $700B defense budget for [fiscal year] FY18 is not the largest ever. It was larger under the Obama administration: $710B in FY11 and $714B in FY10. And that's without adjusting for inflation!"

"Error #2: The number of ships in the Navy today is not the smallest since the end of WWI. We have 283 ships today, and in 2007 (Bush administration) we had 279."

"Error #3: The Navy will not get to 355 ships "very soon." The Navy's 30-year plan says it will not get to that level until after 2050"

"Error #4: Getting to 355 ships is not an increase of "a couple of hundred" ships. Here's the math: 355 - 283 = 72"

"Error #5: The 355-ship fleet has not yet been "approved." The ships have not all been authorized yet, and Congress appropriates the money one year at a time."

"Error #6: This year's military pay raise is not the first in ten years. There were pay raises in each of the past ten years, & some were higher than this year's raise."

You don't know if you should laugh or just shake your head and sigh, six fabrications in two minutes, has to be some kind of record, even for Trump.

It really has gotten to the point where you have to assume that probably anything that comes out of the guy's mouth is a lie, and this is the President of the United States addressing recent graduates, hardly the Norman Rockwell America conservatives idolize. It does explain though the environment that allows the Martin Shkrelis of the Nation to thrive

He isn't credible on the world stage. We know he's a pathological liar so he isn't believed. Not a good state of affairs for the US. Yes all politicians in democracies lie (totalitarians don't have to), but at least they do it with some sort of artistry. Trump just blathers. Not credible.

ONLY 6 errors in 2 minutes?

    Trump seems to be improving.

Usually it is about 10 Lies/Per Minute.

That's going to defeat him and his Republicans sycophants in 2018 Do you trust people who won't call out an obvious liar? Vote the Republicans OUT in 2018 and vote Republican incumbents out in the upcoming primaries. Republicans, drain your swamp.

That part I’m actually in agreement with you. Our swamp rat Republicans are only slightly less bad then the rabid hate filled lunatics we call democrats. Led by none other then Nanny Pelosi.

I'm trying to imagine Mello Guy's commencement speech to graduating Naval Officers....and Debbie Downer's voice keeps creeping in. Yep, these men and women have just committed their lives to a country they love, and Mello Guy here is going to tell them what a terrible mistake they've made.

    #1
    2010:
    Discretionary spending: $1.378 trillion (+13.8%)

    Budget for 2011[edit]
For the 2011 fiscal year, the president's base budget for the Department of Defense and spending on "overseas contingency operations" combine to bring the sum to US$664.84 billion.[3][4]
Any additional spending was to FUND WARTIME ACTIVITIES.

#2The literal accuracy of the claim has changed recently and from year to year. In 1916, the U.S. Navy had 245 active ships. The number peaked at massive 6,768 during World War II. Then the number drifted down during most of the 20th century, with slight upticks during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Today, the number of active ships stands at 273, which is the lowest since 1916.

#3-#5. Please cite the proof of a lie.

#6 Once the previous adm. budget was over, the Obama Adm. cut military pay raises to barely 1%...well below the INFLATION RATES for those years= A PAY CUT.

Since this is all fact-based stuff and not his whack-a-doodle interpretations (like "spygate"), I'm inclined to go errors over lies here (like it really matters).

Frankly, when I'm watching MSNBC and they cut to him speaking, I just mute it anyway, but I'm glad somebody is listening to him to record the lies/errors. I assume none of the graduates were listening, as they are now all college educated people.

The God-Emperor has determined that 2+2=22. Once again, the evil "experts" have been proven wrong all this time and our Fearless Leader has saved us from their lies.

    1. The reason he can say his budget was bigger than Obama's was because Obama requested one amount and then Congress wrote in more. In 2010 Obama asked for 660 some odd billion, in 2011 it was down to 620 something billion. And the ol' "adjusted for inflation" thing doesn't always apply although I'll leave it to you to learn why.

    2. Or you could say we have 447 ships, or 489, or 517. It depends on what makes the list. Are we counting active ships, reserve ships, ships under construction, how about force vs support, how about support vs special purpose, how about post commission leased charters, how about museum ships, and so on. Point is people you can ask google how many ships do we have and find a variety of answers produced because of a variety of reasons. In this case the origin of the 275 and 283 number circulating leftist news is a result of some dumb person being unable to properly compute the chart on navy.mil's website.

    3. "Very soon" is subjective and clearly the purpose was to encourage so calling this is a "lie" is just stat padding. He also said "you are going to have new equipment" but technically a lot of gear gets refurbished, upgraded, and put back into circulation. Want to call that a "lie" too?

    4. I can't explain this one.

    5. Nit picking of language. Plans on what to build, what to update, what to scrap, and on what timetable to do all of this have been approved by the people responsible for that phase. Approving the funding to do it is a different phase. Trump didn't say "Congress has approved this", that was injected by leftist news.

    6. Subjective vs literal use of the word "raise". The yearly employment cost index based increases are raises in the sense that the pay goes up but not raises in the sense that somebody didn't specifically set out to increase the pay. The ECI is based on law, it occurs no matter what. The President making a budget request, and then Congress passing it, to specifically increase the pay in addition to the ECI increase can also be considered a raise and since that doesn't occur by default, and hasn't in the indicated term, this is technically true if however not worded with specificity. But honestly its an encouragement speech not a lecture in CPI driven ECI compensation.

Leftists constantly promote themselves as being of superior intellect however I've never seen one that can pierce through the fake news veil and I wonder if I ever will.
