Size matters! Now, don't get me wrong, a big gun is as useless as a small one if you can not use it properly. Now a bigger gun that is being used properly is still better.

Some guns are too big though and no amount of working it can make the user any better!

You know thinking about the OP I feel that it is correct. Nothing makes you feel like a real man more that feeling the life slip out of another man as he goes limp by your bare hands! Unfortunately many people can not do that and if they did not have a gun they would be the one who loses their life.

A gun is an equalizer! There is no big guy beating up and stealing or raping or beating. There is a person refusing to be a victim and a would be assailant.

I've used a gun to protect myself. Part of owning guns for self-defense (my primary reason) is knowing tactics. Proper knowledge of tactics gives you an edge and can save your life if you are confronted by a violent criminal.

Police cannot be everywhere. It behooves one to be able to protect themselves.

    For defense purposes, or hunting.

Adding to that: How about because I just like to go to the range or out back and pop off some rounds because I enjoy it? I mean many of us just enjoy it. My wife enjoys shooting as does my daughter.

People like to play ball and other aggressive games or watch movies that promote violence and social disruptions while we simply do no harm, don't get violent and enjoy ourselves. What the hell is so hard for some people to understand about that?

You are right. I also like to go to the firing range, and so do most of my friends and family; it is good stress release and reminds me a little of my military days.

Well, I went to the range and damaged myself. It is true that guns hurt people. I took out my 44mag Puma lever action rifle and it bruised my shoulder. LOL

A gun is a survival tool among other things. When I hold my guns I am either keeping my shooting skills sharp, making sure my guns operate properly, getting meat for my family or protecting my family from armed intruders. All of these things allow me to stay ALIVE so I have the OPPORTUNITY to 'feel' as opposed to being...well...room temperature.

really, and I bet you a million quid your gun has saved your life zero times so far, and is probably more likely to take someone else's than ever save yours

People might actually take you seriously if you were aware and capable of the means of handling a discussion.

Your petty ad hominems clearly demonstrate your intellectually weakness and/or bankruptcy.

Then you will loose the wager.

There are more instances of firearm related self-defensive then firearms related crimes.

I suggest not making bets unless you are certain you are correct.

My uncle shoots his .454 Super Redhawk and his S&W .500 without gloves...I don't use gloves for my S&W Model 29.

Of course, his hands are covered with scars & calluses.

yup;) teaches respect for the weapon. I have the super redhawk and I roll my own. Now I have gotten blistered a few times (hell I loaded way tooooo heavy one time and the recoil opened the cylinder) but a friend of mine bought one as well and because he was not used to actually shooting a large revolver before he got his hand bruised up pretty bad.

No kidding. For some reason a beautiful woman is just that much hotter when she's holding a gun.

It doesn't work if she doesn't know how to hold it, though.

Like these chicks, here. They're not any hotter than they otherwise would be.

This last one is even downright unhot.

I'd hope nobody thinks its "hot' making a girl look like an idiot, not showing her how to hold it properly.

Very often saving yours involves taking someone else's. That's kind of the whole point.

My smoke detector, fire extinguisher, seatbelt, and carbon monoxide detector have not saved my life either. Are you suggesting that I don't need these items either?

Nope. No evidence of this whatsoever.

Wait!!! I know "I feel like a real man when I take my wife to the range and help her grip my 454 revolver by moving up behind her and helping her with her grip while my GUN snuggles up close to her!"

    Liz won't shoot my Model 29. :(

She doesn't like revolvers, and the grips don't fit her hand comfortably. (She's left-handed, the grip is shaped for a righty.)

But dang, your wife shoots a .454 Casull? Dang! Is it a Ruger?

Course you could always have her shoot 44 special instead and avoid the pain.
