I have absolutely no reason to be ashamed of having a gene that makes my skin pigment a peachy-tan colour (also confusingly called "white" which would indicate a great deal of colour, in fact all colours at once). Anyone who thinks you should is a racist.

Well yes there are actually. I know it's the leftist fad now adays to pretend that you don't see a difference between the typical swede and typical kongolese, but please, subscribing that that does you no favour. It makes it seem as if you're denying the obvious, which everyone can see, by following ideology. Reality first, ideology second, a good rule to follow. Have you seen django, that movie about slaves and stuff? Surely you're not saying that instead of black people being the slaves there, we might as well have put me -a white swede- in that role, because black and white doesn't exist and we're all shades of brown. Hell, let the slave drivers be chinese, because surely there's no difference. But of course not, you're not saying that, because that would be totally ridiculous. But that is the logical conclusion from your statement, and thus I advise you to re-think it.

In summary, your logic also says that there's no such thing as red or blue because there's a continuum between them.

I am neither proud nor ashamed of being white as I had nothing to do with it. I am, however, happy to be white as it has led to an overall easier life for me in every country I have ever lived in.

 

I am a white male. I have won the birth lotto.

No, I would not want to be ANY other color or sexuality. I have better job oppertunities based on the color of my skin, and I will get paid more because I am a male. Being a white male is awesome.

Furthermore, I can walk into a store without immediatley being followed by store security. Its noce to be able to shop without such intrusion into what I am doing.

 

I'm not sure why the focus is on being white, but personally, I'd agree with apo.

 

I was going to include every other big group too but it would be too many options and I'd have to leave some out, so I just simplified it. What I was getting at was basically white vs minority anyways, and an assumption that most here are white anyways.

 

Not being racist. Simple facts:
I don't know what area you live in, but in the majority of big cities a white male is in the minority, but does not get the benefit of such when seeking employment. Additionally, if you're anything but Native American, Alaskan Native, etc., you're probably not even going to get an interview if applying to one of their enterprises, which is reasonable since it's their tribe after all. And local, state and federal governments stipulate in any contracts for services that a certain percentage of funds will go to minority (anything but white) and women owned businesses.

True. I sometimes wonder how it feels to be an immigrant. Not an immigrant that is close to the main population, but an immigrant that is really different, kind of like a congolese in sweden. As a swede I can think about sweden's history, which although we are small, isn't too shabby. There's definitively things to be proud of that swedes have accomplished through the times. I can also feel that this is my country. But were I a congolose in sweden, I couldn't really look back at the history of congo and see a glorious or even mediocre past. I'd see that We were technologically behind, and were colonised, and dividede by europeans, and even now congo continues to be a very poor country with civil wars and disease. My point is, that I wonder how it feels to not have your people have a cool history to look back to, or a cool country now adays. And for some peoples they have never had indpendence and still don't. And some have a history of just being persecuted and poor, like gypsies. My point isn't to ridicule these peoples or anything, I just think about how it would be to be those people sometimes.

So then you'd be confusing race with ethnicity. Caucasian, Negroid, Mongoloid and possibly Australoid.

 

The harder pill to swallow is that where you are born is also an accident. So I have a hard time understanding nationalism and patriotism, I mean really... it's not like you got to pick.

 

How? I'm not speaking of the psuedo scientific races, nor the known phenotypes, nor the US ethnicity. I'm think of white people, which inclydes many different ethnicities, however vaguely white is defined.

Think of it like a parent-child relationship then. Parents want the best for their children, more so than for others'.

 

Hard to reconcile that with "rugged individualism", at least in my opinion.
