People who opposed interracial marriage were racists. People who hate homosexuals are homophobes.... Extremism? Did you think segregationists were extremists? does this definition fit.

You made a big mistake. The post above is a response to yguy, not you. Now read it again, and you will see that it says EXACTLY the same thing you just said about public support. I am a 56 year old gay man. I have watched the polling numbers climb my way from 1992 to today. I don't know how old you are, but I may well have fought for marriage equality before you did!

Yes they are different things, I would never think of calling someone who believes in second class status for gays and lesbians, a racist. Entirely inappropriate.

If you're bothered by responses to your posts, I daresay the problem is on your end, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong. ;-)

Actually I'd say those who buy into an outrageous lie are the losers. Wouldn't you?

Perhaps not coincidentally, sanity has been losing favor for at least as long.

Be that as it may, I'm hard pressed find a reason to regret the disapproval of lovers of lies.

As anyone with a lick of sense can see, I gave no analogy, stupid or otherwise.

If anything would lead me to believe anything so thunderously idiotic, it sure as Hell wouldn't properly be called education.

No need, it's you all over.

Even if that were true, I daresay it wouldn't be nearly as sad...

...as your being so hysterical as to mistake an ally for an enemy.

Swell, I'm a bigot for refusing to accept neo-Nazis and pedophiles.

Yes, you're grasping at straws to use the most drawn-out and tired word of all time.

"Racist sexist bigot" means "disagreeing with a liberal"

You're right. The KKK just disagrees with liberals , they are not racists. The neo-Nazis they aren't anti Semitic..what is so sad is that you don't like the word because its definition hits to close to home for many. The pattern you are exhibiting is attack the messenger while you ignore the messages.

And Antifa are anti-free speech fascists who riot in the streets. We get it. You're in favor of 1943 Germany.

I don't understand why, when gays had a much better deal, would they do the dirty. Let's face the facts. It is a much better sell to the judge in divorce hearings, if they just leave each other, rather be subject to divorce laws. Ain't love grand?

Agreed. I am married for 30 years and made a commitment. You can make the same commitment without marriage.
But I guess that marriage is the glue that holds things together during tough times.

    No!
Marriage is a civil union between a man and a woman.

I do support a legally similar relationship between same sex couples
or even groups of people. I mean "why" monogamy?
Legally similar like inheritance or pulling the life support plug on your partner.

The next hurdle is ending monogamy!
Just don't call it marriage. How about, "group union".

Why not "marriage". Respect for others!

    Do you support gay marriage?

Yes. Love in any form is far superior to any other force of nature. We must support love in all its forms.

Government has no choice in the matter. We look to government to sanction divorce, which is tied up in complex webs of legalese surrounding spousal rights, children's rights, etc. We also look to government to rule on inheritance. So, a legal view on what constitutes "marriage" is a valid need in any society. For me personally, I feel the broadest view of personal, social, and religious rights is always the best. That accounts for one of several reasons I support gay marriage.

If it makes two SS individuals feel better by getting married then it does nobody any harm if they do. [IMG]

I suggest there should be an 'indifferent' option.

Everyone should have the same rights, and that includes marriage.

What's about those religions who allow gay marriages or poly marriages? Should we not respect them?
