Sorry but it's totally relevant. It's the exact, same legal overreach that Obama did, and every single (American) lefty and Democrat on the forum cheered on. I know, I've argued about that DACA issue on this forum for years.

The Republicans only pretend to care about extra legal actions until they get the chance to use them. When they complain about Dems, it isn't about actually respecting the law. It is only an expression of jealousy and admiration.

And the Supreme Court has OK'd Obama's over-reach, so, giddy up!

Democrats demanded eliminating election safeguards in exchange for aid and stimulus checks for illegal aliens.

Trump added, “The only way they can win is to cheat… They want to steal the election.”

So President Biden will be able to write $1 million dollar checks to every one of his voters cause we're giving the President the power of the purse now ... cool.

Interesting. "The Republicans only pretend to care about extra legal actions until they get the chance to use them," after the Democrats break ground by creating the precedent for extra legal actions. So, is your argument that Republicans should think of some extra legal actions of their own instead of copying the extra legal actions of the Democrats?

Where and when did SCOTUS do this? They struck down DAPA. And the only case that SCOTUS has heard in regards to DACA is whether or not Trump can get rid of it in the way that he tried to get rid of it. They ruled that he can't. They did not rule on the legality of DACA itself.

I would prefer a tax cut for the working class, you know, what Trump said his last tax cut would be, yet it turned out to be a corporate give away tax cut

give everyone a 5k tax cut... across the board - rich and poor alike

I know the right would prefer % tax cuts as it helps the rich more, but doing it like this will allow the working class to get a bigger cut, so let's do it

So because a president committed a crime or pushed an unconstitutional action all future presidents should be able to do so? Is that really the argument you are making?

    This country is ****ed.

No payroll tax is a really nice raise, albeit temporary, for working people at a time when they really need it. I'm for it.

Blue, red, purple wherever they might be working, it matters not. It benefits all working people fair and square.

Explain why President Biden couldn't do that? Sure there is that old Constitution, but the Democrats have blown through that so many times there is not much left of it. Your old "pen and phone" Presidency eviscerated that in favor of paying off constituencies, so there you go.

Don't get me wrong, I think President Trump's actions are probably illegal, but only in the sense that I though creating DACA was illegal too, and we all know how that turned out.

Do you agree with the president taking unconstitutional action as a political ploy? Yes or no?

I'm not arguing that a President should do that, I'm arguing that they do. It's safe to say that even though President Obama's creation of DACA was illegal and unconstitutional, he still won and the Program is still in existence. Please tell me how that should be corrected?

"The president also said he would extend unemployment benefits"

on day one, Biden can do the same, for the next 8 years

    One wrong doesn't excuse another.
I'm just glad that future Presidents will be able to promise anything without regard to Congress. Means they can
give voters millions in stimulus checks for each vote. In fact Congress is now not needed at all, because a President can just declare, "It's taking too long," and usurp power. It's ****ing great. Damn any oversight, it's wasted time.

Ever since 9/11,we've just been handing the Executive more and more power - might as well just rip off the band-aid and
start the first Imperial Presidency. It would make Sadam Huissen so proud to know that we went over there to get rid
of him, and instead brought back the Iraq style of government instead.

Will he add in general transfers to make up for the loss in Social Security, like Obama did when his Congress implemented the temporary payroll tax cut?

Gonna be some angry seniors if not..

My argument is that hypocrisy is a foolish argument to justify hypocrisy. Not sure where I'm losing you. Do you oppose extra legal actions or not? You appear to like them on your side and hate them on the Dem side, making you the same as them and rendering your complaints a meaningless farce.

You may be glad that future Presidents will be able to promise anything, but I'm sad about it. I hate that the constitution has been effectively disregarded and ignored, but that's gone back much further than DACA. We've been in decline for a while and I've spent years saying, "but it's unconstitutional!" and we've plowed ahead regardless.

At least you get what you want.

Yep. That's the way it was even when Congress approved it as part of the last stimulus. Trump's just continuing what was already agreed to previously. With the exception of the $600, which has been lowered to $400.

I've made several posts on which "side" of come down on extra legal legislating in this thread. My position shouldn't be a mystery, just as your position isn't a mystery to me. You support them except when Trump does them.
