Because I know a fair few who met like that: my mum and dad, grandad and grandma, our star married couple at my place of work (she's 18 he's 30), and a few of my straight friends. It worth noting in all circumstances the guys are older than the girls. Basically most guys find youth sexy (hence the abundance of younger "barely legal" porn stars), and gay men are no exception. I believe there's a tendency among some more submissive/passive type younger gay guys to seek the affections of slightly older, wiser "manlier" men. It's just the way it is... It's ridiculous that people accuse gays of being obsessed with youth.

I have no problem with Elvis having vaginal sex with Prescila at 16 years of age. I do have a problem with Harvey having anal sex with a drug addicted boy of 16. There is a huge difference there.
