Yes... it certainly is. I am American. That means I am free to buy what I want, vote how I want, say what I want, etc.
You go ahead and kneel down... obey others that tell you what you can drive or not drive. I will not live the life as a serf... s you seem to want to do. Be sure to keep your eye down submissively.

Bizarre rant. I think it's evident that my point was that nobody is forcing any American to buy an EV.

I got in our 2002 GMC Yukon XL today with a 5-3 l SL motor and did some riding just for the hell of it. When you stomp on the gas that thing moves.

While I am not in the habit of driving recklessly, I do like finding a good corner out in the country with some gravel and fishtailing the back end around a little bit. Certainly can't do that with my three 6 l minivan with front wheel drive.

We paid $3,300 for our Yukon. I have not seen any decent used electric vehicles on the market for anywhere near that.

Some of the hybrids are regularly for sale in used condition. They're a lot more efficient with their regenerative braking.

I haven't seen anything I could pick up for $3,300 that you can drive down the road.

You obviously know nothing about Biden's decree on emissions which annot be met except by an EV.

I only looked at one of these posts, and you're taking it out of context. The last one was stated in regards to "company business". They can drive whatever they want at home. That's pretty normal. Example - if postal trucks are electric at a delivery center, then the postal worker will be driving an electric truck. More often than not, it's the other way around. A postal worker might want the electric truck, but is forced to use an ICE.

Company vehicles have nothing to do with this conversion. I'm talking about being forced to buy an EV as my property. Who cares what kind of vehicle one is supposed to use work? It's a company vehicle, not private property...

You'll get in your little electric car and eat the bugs and shut up and be happy peasant ! Lol

I'm just wondering where all of The advocates of such forced conversion to EV think that the average lower or middle class working person is going to suddenly come up with the money to buy one of these.

Every vehicle I have ever owned I have purchased outright. I do not want a loan. I probably don't qualify for one and that's just fine by me.

I do not want to be making a car payment for the next 7 years that is higher than my rent. I do not want to be forced to pay exorbitant full coverage for the entire time of the loan.

I do not want to drive anything that the bank owns.

In the dystopian future world that the Democrats are trying to force us into, driving will only be for those who can afford to do so.

I bought my first car right out of college. My salary as an Army 2LT was $660/mo. There is no way I could have bought a car outright. I had to take a oan. How did YOU manage it> Family money? Lottery? Bank robbery?

I believe you are right about what the future dream of the Democrats is. Elites and serfs in an Orwellian nightmare.

Just saved money until I could buy a fairly decent used vehicle. The only new vehicle I have ever bought is my dirt bike and that was rather extravagant but I justified it because it is a dual sport bike license for road use as well.

At a tad bit over $7,000 at the dealership, it definitely stung the bank account but I own it 100% and did the very moment I rolled it out the front door.

Too late to cry about it now but I should have taken my time and looked for a decent used one. Lesson learned

You need to catch up. The plan that's very carefully laid out, is to ban new ICE vehicles by 2035.

That's 11 years from now. The economic carnage will be incomprehensible. Auto companies will be forced to sell vehicles the vast majority of people don't want and will not be able to sell vehicles they do want.

Never in our history could I have imagined this kind of horrific economic disaster.

    In 11 years.

Biden sure is. His latest Executive Order on emissions is impossible to comply with in any combustion engine design. That means he is outlawing combustion engine vehicles and forcing us into EV's.

That's what I said. Then why did you post a link about company vehicles?

That wasn't me that brought company vehicles into the discussion.

    It was YOU... post #33

Yeah, the adolescent obsession with over-powered, oversized vehicles continues to hold everyone back. "Freedom", as they say, is expensive, and we are paying dearly for this permissiveness.

Climate fanatics aside, I just got back from Shanghai and every single moped in the city is electric. About half the cars, too. You'd be amazed how peaceful the city is.

The muscle car of my youthful years hardly "held me back". I had such fun cruising around in it, enjoying the open road in FREEDOM. FUN is not "permissiveness". Fun is simply FUN. I paid for it... but the car was reasonably priced.

Not surprising. Police states are often "peaceful." And I've said often that the EV has a niche role as a local runabout.

I totally agree. For local transport its fine. But I routinely drive over a thousand miles to explore (I'm retired) and visit fiends and relatives all over the country. EV's just don't get it.

Except it's usually a very adult obsession with vehicles capable of doing the work necessary to keep things like EVs running, buildings heated and cooled, and freight moved to where it's needed.

My emphasis should have been quiet, rather than peaceful. Yes electric is perfectly suited for that type of use.

I wouldn't call it a niche in the context that I described. Local run-about is the norm in Shanghai. Travelling across China would be the niche.

I would have to understand what you mean by "traveling across China." If you meant traveling within different cities across China, then yes. If you meant a road trip across China then no.
