We are stuck in a bad place. Trump has close to half the Republican primary vote. You can’t stop them. They are a cult. Yet, over all, Trump can’t win the general election. To a majority of voters, the Trump brand name is toxic. They will vote for Biden even though a majority says he has been a failure and is too old to be president.

So it’s Trump vs. Biden, even though most voters don’t want that choice. The system is broken.

It may make sense but it is also wrong. Trump's support among a third of the GOP is more than enough to secure him the nomination. The more people who challenge him, the stronger he is because it fractures the remaining two thirds into too many small pieces. If I were Sununu, I would partner with someone right out of the gate who was a solid moderate republican and declare them my eventual VP running mate and put forth a pro-business agenda, steering clear of all the drag queen boogie man issues. So far as I know, it has never been done by a major party candidate. It would create a lot more interest and solidify more support behind your nomination. Right now, Trump dropping dead or being locked in prison are the only two hopes the Anti-MAGA side of the GOP can realistically have at stopping him unless they really find a new way to play politics.

Sununu will get nowhere. Most people don’t know who he is. He won’t be able to raise the millions it takes to run an effective campaign.

Trump controls about 45% of the Republican primary voters plus another 7 or 8 percent who aren’t thrilled with him but see no alternatives. Trump’s hate filled rhetoric sells very well to that 45%, but poorly to many others. I am sick of his belittling nicknames for those who are running against him and his demagoguery. I hope that the Republicans will be done with him after he loses in 2024, but by then, it might be too late.

Trump is running hundreds of attack ads here in Florida against DeSantis. They are the usual nasty Trump rhetoric. He can never run ads that are positive about how he would change things, and there is plenty to say about that.

Way to go, Donald! Tick off the voters you are going to need in November 2024 to win. Make them hold their nose when they vote for you or stay home. That’s the Trump way. Divide, tick people off, listen to you toadies which pumps up you giant, fragile ego, and lose in November. Then you can claim you were robbed and drive some more nails in the conservative coffin.

45% Trump supporter might be cult, but other 55% GOP who don’t want Trump, will line up and Vote for Trump in Nov 2024 .

It won't be 55% because some of them will stay home. It doesn't matter because to win, Trump will need a good slice of Independents and Democrats. The chances of him getting those votes is not good.

If Trump gets the Republican nomination, I would be one of the 55% who votes for him, but with no enthusiasm. If Trump doesn't get the nomination, and flies off the handle, as he is prone to do, he will run as a third party candidate just to spite the Republicans. In that case, get ready for Biden to get as long as he can last in his second term before his mind gets much worse. Then it will be Harris. By then the country will be in the toilet.

As I said, all your criticism mean nothing. All your "I am sick of his belittling nicknames for those who are running against him" will turn political skill in general election as long as belittling is against Joe Biden. You and other 55% will line up and vote for Trump.

But as you said after all that GOP will still need independent and suburban mom in Milwaukee, Madison, Detroit, Philadelphia to win WH.

The reason 45% stick with Trump , they think nominating McCain or Romney as centrist was a mistake. Trump cult think centrist republican has no chance winning election. The 55% of you, who thinks Trump or any one who is too much on the right like DeSantis has no chance winning national election, you can teach a lesson to these 45% by staying home or vote other race. Only way you will eradicate Trump and Trumpism from GOP is by humiliating defeat. GOP had it’s chance to destroy Trumpism during 2nd impeachment trial. But they “wished” Trump will go away on it’s own. Trump and Trumpism is a diseases in GOP and only way to cure the disease is by harsh measure . As of today , moderate GOPs are too chicken to take harsh measure.

At least, there will be somebody on the debate stage who'll throw crap back at the Cry Baby Loser.

... In another town hall meeting in New Hampshire in April, Christie devoted his entire opening remarks to slamming Trump.

“Tonight is the beginning of the case against Donald Trump,” Christie said. “You’re not going to beat someone by closing your eyes, clicking your heels together three times and saying, ‘There’s no place like home.’ That’s not going to work.”

“Donald Trump is a TV star, nothing more, nothing less,” he added. “Let me suggest to you that in putting him back in the White House, the reruns will be worse than the original show.”

Nah. You just live in an alternate reality.

This you have almost correct, except that Trump has over half the primary vote.

No, they just realize that there's one person who is actually representing THEM for a change.

Actually, Trump is the ONLY Republican who can win the general election. Without his voters (which include plenty of self identified Democrats and Independents btw), other Republican candidates don't stand a chance. The "Obama ---> Trump" voter is definitely a thing...

Actually, Trump's approval rating is as high as it's ever been.

    Nope. They'll vote for Trump.

I want that choice. Trump Train all the way!!!!

Right, hence why Trump/MAGA/America First exists.

... from WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY over on the far corner of the debate stage... meh... who cares... He's just there to be an attack dog and to suck off Trump votes in New Hampshire... the plan won't work. Too many people see through it.

You had best hope that the Democrats stay home for 2024 general election, @gfm7175. They might because nobody will be excited about a second Biden term, except maybe Jill who enjoys the White House perks.

That will be like watching a ‘60s style wrestling match featuring Killer Kawalski versus Buddy Rogers. Both were “heals”, wrestling slang for heavies or villains. The fans hoped they would destroy each other.

It'll be fun. The Cry Baby Loser who lacks the testicular accouterments to honestly admit he lost a democratic election must either face Christie's bluster or wimp out of the debates.

Correct. His only job is to pull votes off of Trump in New Hampshire. That's it. That's all he's there for. The plan won't work. Too many people see through it.

What "hate filled rhetoric"? He loves this nation and its people. Do you mean his attacks on the corrupt Uniparty? They deserve it.

So you're telling me that when there's a border invasion going on, a fentanyl & child trafficking crisis going on, a crime crisis going on, skyrocketing inflation, skyrocketing gas/food/energy/insurance prices, endless war mongering, an "eat the bugs" populace control agenda, and a whole bunch of alphabet soup government agencies (and a corrupt judicial system) all weaponized against We The People, you're upmost concern is "but... but Trump tweets out mean nicknames"??? Interesting priorities there...

Too bad. We The People (MAGA) are already done with Republicans. Either the Republican Party goes the way of America First or the way of the Whigs...

Trump can easily win without a few "never Trumper" people... DeSaster LITERALLY CAN'T win without the swath of "only Trump" people...

No, you are describing the elitist globalist RNC way.

Trump's coalition is very diverse with people from all sorts of backgrounds. DeSaster's coalition is mostly just a bunch of cocktail-club rich old white people.

Most of them will, yes. A small bit of them won't.

The difference is that, if the other way around, at least 20% of the Trump supporters will NOT line up and vote for the GOP candidate.

“Cocktail club rich old White people”

Like over half of the Hispanics in South Florida? DeSantis got that vote in 2022.

Why can’t you say something positive about your candidate now and then?

It doesn't matter. Democrats run a well-oiled national ballot harvesting operation. Notice I didn't mention anything about Democrat voters.

Republicans need both voters AND a competitive ballot harvesting operation, and the only candidate that can do that (and is even interested in doing that) is Trump.

Either way , Democrats will cheat, ballot harvest , dead people will vote, undocumented immigrant will vote and Joe Biden will be President again. And I am happy with that.

Nobody was excited for a FIRST Biden term and yet he handidly beat Trump because only a small minority want a second Trump term.
If it is Biden and Trump again Biden will easily win again. This time around Trump will have a few criminal indictments on him and maybe a couple of criminal convictions.

In that case America deserves to suffer more. At some point we must take the reigns away from Big Tech, and Big Election "Helpers", and away from the billions of dollars chasing data points in the mist and pulling votes from disinterested people.
If a rabbit gets a ballot, that rabbit votes.
America only changes when they can't stand it anymore!

I hope so. I think Biden might be eliminated before the primaries. The odds on replacement is Gavin Newsom who is Joe Biden without dementia. As for Trump, he’s still on track.

Trump got a head start; I'm waiting to see how the new comers work to make up ground.
