Former liberal MSNBC host calls on Justice Sotomayor to step down from SCOTUS.
"Mehdi Hasan argued Democrats should be publicly and privately encouraging Sotomayor to step down."

    Link: https://www.foxnews.com/media/forme...tomayor-step-down-supreme-court-why-take-risk

Well... I've been predicting for about a month now that we'd see more and more "trial balloons" like this one involving Sonia Sotomayor and her very likely resignation from the SCOTUS to surface.

The idea is to retire Sotomayor in July after this year's SCOTUS business ends in June. Then Kamala Harris is nominated to the empty seat by Biden, Kamala resigns as vice-president, is replaced by President Pro Tempore in the Senate by Senator Patty Murray, a hyperliberal Democrat herself, and after that, Schumer could easily slam-dunk Kamala into a seat on the Supreme Court way before the November election.

This gets rid of Kamala-la-la politically while ensuring that one hyperliberal Leftist on the court is simply replaced neatly by another one. Nobody (NOBODY) wants Kamala Harris on the ticket for vice-president (or anything else), so, this "kills two birds with one stone". And it further paves the way for Biden to step aside during the Democrat convention in August, allowing some other 'woke' POS to step up (probably Gavin Newsom).

My crystal ball gets clearer and clearer all the time.... :oldman: Whacha think? :confusion:

    ZERO Chance that happens....NONE....
    1) People have been caling for BOTH Soto and Kagan to resign for awhile.
    https://www.vox.com/policy-and-poli...omayor-elena-kagan-ruth-bader-ginsburg-retire
    The idea is nothing new.
    2) It is extemely unlikely (i.e., virtually impossible) that either will resign.
    3) IF either resigned, ZERO chance for Harris to be nominated to the seat...

Yeah but she'll vote the right way, so it doesn't matter if she's stupid in that job from this perspective.

I can see that logically it would make sense for someone in chronically poor health like Sotomayor to step down for the good of the party, but the problem with SC Judges, like all types of politicians, is that they're narcissistic egomaniacs and just do not want to give up the power. The Obama administration tried to get RBG to resign so they could replace her and she refused, and her seat ended up as a Trump appointment.

Although I really cant explain the hatred of Kamala by many, it is real. Getting her off the ticket WILL create a win for Biden. If she stays, it will be an albatross around his political neck, and make the race a whole lot closer. But in reality, Kamala isn't really qualified to be in the bench, so I really dont see Joe nominating her.

Not only would she drive her clerks insane, her opinions would probably read like gibberish.

    From the majority opinion:

"The sky is blue. We like that don't we? Blue, but it doesn't make everything else look blue. We should all be blue but we are not. Maybe if you look from space through all the blue, we look blue...one blue marble. It's called a blue marble because of the blue.

This court remands this to the lower court. Night everyone!"

Well maybe she can run for president and there's no way that Donald Trump can beat her?

Just imagine her giggling like a schoolgirl anytime someone asked her a question.

Democrats can't replace a Latino woman with a half-black woman. They just put a full black woman on the court. Biden's handlers would tell him they're looking for another Latino woman to nominate.

I doubt that will happen. Because of Federal double dipping laws, it would be a mess that I doubt anyone wants to deal with.

Look, folks, here's the thing -- Kamala was the District Attorney of San Francisco, and the Attorney General of California... so, they can sell her as having 'legal' cred! :rock_slayer:

Thus, it will be OK for Democrats to fill Sotomayor's vacant slot with Kamala and, best of all, they will lose nothing by doing so. They know they can count on Kamala Harris to be Left-wing liberal Justice who will always vote the Democrat Party line. Where's the downside in that for Democrats...? There ain't one!

Besides, it gets her goofy ass off the ticket and out of the election spotlight -- a masterstroke for Democrats... if any of them has the sense to do it. :spin:

What "double-dipping" problem? William Howard Taft was elected the 27th President of the United States (1909-1913) and then later became the tenth Chief Justice of the United States (1921-1930). :omg:

Oh, putting Kamala on the SCOTUS can very easily be done, although I can't say for sure how it would affect Kamala's 'retirement compensation' (the "double-dipping" thing). But there's nothing that would keep her from resigning as VP as soon as Sotomayor's retired, and then being, in essence, a private citizen again. Democrat Senator, Senator Patty Murray, would function in the Senate as president pro tempore after Kamala's departure, Biden would nominate Kamala to the SCOTUS, and Senate-controlling Democrats would get it all done in record time.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, look for even more of these little "trial balloons" to pop up more and more often as we get closer to July. One way or the other, believe this: Democrats are desperate to get Kamala Harris out (OUT) of the Naval Observatory!

Taft was chief justice before there was a double dipping law in the books.

I found this from 2021, and it appears to say that as long as Kamala would be nominated while still a "sitting vice-president" she could indeed be confirmed to become a Supreme Court Justice: Link: https://www.verifythis.com/article/...ourt/536-4097e53b-fba8-4311-ae60-ea21b24709ab

So, if this is correct, she wouldn't have to resign as VP first... all she'd have to do is have Biden nominate her. Piece of cake.

Hell, I didn't know that anybody was thinking about giving her the 'heave-ho' back in 2021, but in retrospect, it doesn't surprise me.

I think that I want some of whatever you've been smoking. :hippie:

Where are you getting such a detailed scenario? Isn't the Conspiracy Theories forum a better place for this?

Kamala Harris has no experience as a judge. None. This is nothing more than one guy's opinion. Hasan isn't that influential, nor does he have any more information on any of those named in the article than you or I have.

Why should they? Neither is very old. They are both in their 60s, not their 80s.

Albatross? I disagree. I don't think she matters much at all, since most voters are indifferent to her or have no strong opinion. I find her to be innocuous.

And you say that without knowing who Trump will choose, which could turn out to be someone that most voters think is a lunatic, like Kari Lake, Elise Stefanic, or the completely incompetent Ben Carson, whom I've heard is on Trump's short list.

Sounds pretty far fetched, but what are Democrats going to do with Kamala Harris? We do know that Joe Biden is running for re-election, but we haven't heard officially if Kamala Harris is running for anything.
