I haven't had many if any errors over the last couple days that I've noticed - is the forum functioning better for anyone else, or just me?

Seems to be working good tonight... but don't say that too loud. Usually causes it to crash & burn. :please:

Slow as Christmas for me this morning. Sure sign a DB error can't be too far away...

Nope; just today during the last three hours I had two 'database errors', a 'do you want to navigate away...' message, a hang-up, several 'unknown error' messages and a 'down for maintenance'. Business as usual, it seems.

The site was as bad yesteday as it's ever been... except for being completely locked out.

Isn't it about time to hire professionals instead of working on this forum in somebody's garage?

(BTW, what happened to our points display? Just another glitch or planned?)

I think it was a good idea.

Perhaps it will cut down on the number of frivolous post (just to boost points)... I know, I know, no one wants to hear it. lol

... but the site seems to be running more smoothly since the "points count" and little doo-dads below the name have been disabled.

From what I understand, there was a problem with the points system that was installed. A new points system will be installed to the site that will hopefully function more efficiently.
That's all I know. If I hear anything else, I will post it for you here.

It's a lot better than when it was at its worst ever. And I post a heck of a lot of font here at PF. I mean a lot! Anyway I am still getting a some database errors and the herkey jerky eternal wait when editing or posting a reply or thread. Its worse around the time you all do the scheduled tasks ie around 6am. All that junk conspires to expire the 20 min time limit etc. These type servers are a bane to my browser anyway and I have always experienced some type of problem with them. I can imagine how frustrating a moderators job would be trying work around the problems, god bless all of you btw, I was ready to give up on PF before you all’ improved it.

...I took some time to construct a decent response to a political post yesterday, clicked submit reply and it lost the post.

I know I should know enough to copy the post before pressing submit reply, but I didn't and when it lost the post I returned to the state of "pissed off with the techie here" and went to post elsewhere.

Let me know if it ever improves. I still come by to post in the off topic forum, but it's too frustrating to try to debate with those silly issues interrupting.

I don't think there's a "techie" here... which is half the problem!

On 9/13 we were told the points were taken away 'temporarily' -- they're still gone on 10/30. I've gotten 2 SERVER TOO BUSY errors and been logged off twice this morning. Obviously the points had nothing to do with the technical probs...but like every other feature, they were taken away and never came back.

Hopefully the site will be able to limp thru another 7 days. After that, who knows...

I still have issues with this forum on all three of my computers. My work PC, my home PC and my Net book.

    Nobody's perfect. :)

God bless you Viv, I have had the same thing happen more than once.

I mean when I pushed post reply etc it just disappeared so fast, with not even a database error etc! I was mad at myself for not copying and mad at the server AND the PF Gods! If I had a great forum like PF I would be all over the ‘IT problems thing’ or whatever was causing PF to be so bad compared to the other sites with even the same type server. As I have said this type server seems far more problematic than most other MB servers. I feel for the Mods as I have said (again), because I can not imagine trying to edit posts and do regular mod work with when PF is doing its slow to stop thing. I have overcome most of my problems by posting at specific times, copying everything first and knowing which back refresh and in what sequence to hit when my replies or threads disappear or freeze. That said I love PF still. In fact I would LOVE to own a forum like PF. I am far too impatient to start one from scratch.

If PF were mining today, the first thing I would do is change servers AGAIN if the server did not fix my problems! Then I would beg my mods to stay and give them some kind of goodies! Really! I would change servers if I had to sell blood to pay for it. Then if the news server did not perform and did not improve I would give them four business days then change again and again until the server thing was fixed. Even if money was a problem. If it’s not the server it’s something fixable that maybe even the hard working Mods cant fix. And that is a hack. I thought at first (and I STILL have my suspicions that PF or the server has a dedicated malicious hacker on their butt) PF would increase membership instead of losing good members if the server were reliable and average in its speed etc. I hate to see you go, check in from time to time? Also does any members know what the going price is for an established forum like PF goes for? In USA dollars? Owner; would you like to sell PF? I am serious.

 It could be working at top speed tomorrow, when most Republicans choose not to show their faces. Who knows? :heartbreaker: :buggered:
