The last I heard, the authorities never tried to find the owner(s) of the women's jewelry. If he was 'holding it for a friend'......dang! that sounds familiar! Where have I heard that before? Why hasn't the 'friend' come forward and claimed his/her jewelry?

Wow, guy, hate much? Most of us realize that Zimmerman did not come out of this looking like a model citizen, and Trayvon for all his problems did not really deserve to be shot to death. (Zimmerman's innocence does not equate to Trayvon's deserving to be killed.) But hey, you want to portray GZ as a hero and TM as a "racist thief" and a felon, be my guest, you'll have lots of friends wearing pillow cases eager to encourage you.

Meaning if he'd beaten GZ's ass and then gotten up and walked home, he could have been arrested and tried for assault, but he wouldn't have been sentenced to death. Meaning teenagers act like idiots and punks all the time but don't deserve to be shot to death. Meaning if people didn't police their own neighborhoods with the power of a handgun shoved in their waistband then maybe punk kids in hoodies would instead be dealt with by law enforcement officers who are trained to handle suspects with techniques that aim to avoid using deadly force, and neither of these two men's lives would be ruined.

Meaning it's a (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up culture where a fistfight is ended with a lethal gunshot.

Sorry , our laws allow us to not be punching bags for teenagers "figuring it out " . You think a female should have to take a beating instead of using her gun against a teenager " acting like an idiot " and smashing her head in? Crazy.

Fistfights often end in death or permanent maiming. You seem to be suggesting that Zimmerman should have just taken the beating because he some how knew nothing serious was going to happen to him especially after having his head slammed into the ground. The person primarly responsible for the death of Travon was Travon. Killing someone isn't a good thing and it is a tragedy but insisting Martin needs to be punished has no merit. And as far as the Culture is concern, it is the upbringing of Travon which lead to this more that someone defending his life.

If anyone should have been persecuted after she walked, it should have been Casey Anthony.

Where was the outrage over that 17 yr old black teen in Georgia deliberately shooting the 1 yr old white baby boy in his face b/c the baby's mother didn't have $ to give him?

Haven't heard a whisper of that cold-blooded killer since it happened.......

Exactly! Strange how all the focus is only on one black teen killed and all the other black kids who are murdered are ignored..........

There was that one pretty black teenager who had a bright future ahead of her - good student, marched in some event for Obama in DC.... she was shot down in cold blood. Where was the blacks outrage and calling for justice for this young gal? There never was any.......

Do you know how many people are beaten to death with fists (hands, fists, feet, etc.) every year?

    2007 - 869
    2008 - 875
    2009 - 817
    2010 - 769
    2011 - 728

    http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/uc...s.-2011/tables/expanded-homicide-data-table-8

If it was a stand up fight Zimmerman would have been convicted of manslaughter. If Martin had killed Zimmerman with blows to the head pinning him to the ground after lying in wait, he'd be in prison for life. Martins "defense" became an attack as soon as he was on top of him pinning him to the ground preventing Zimmerman's escape reigning blows down on him. Once you cut off a persons ability to escape and attack them, deadly force will always be justified in court.

Wow! That's .... different. Watching a high-profile trial on tv is 'voyeurism'? How so? Care to explain how it's 'voyeurism'?

Fist fights often end in death.

That was in the chest not the head.

Martin had the right to hang up on his dopey girlfriend and call the cops if he felt threatened by Z following him....period. Lying in wait and attacking was never a legal option and it cost the dumbass his life.

I have no idea why you replied to my post w/the above. NO WHERE did I imply that GZ was 'crazy and guilty'..... where did you get that from?

Go back and read my post again.... your babble does not apply to what I said. NONE of it does........

Aw, come on, Blues - "He had no duty to do so...." Baloney! It is or at least should be his duty to identify himself when someone is in the position of some kind of authority - even a neighborhood watchman.

It makes a lot more sense to speak up, identify yourself and ask the other person who they are, why they're there rather than a stupid and very dangerous cat and mouse game in the middle of the night, silently stalking each other...... that's stupid and only leads to trouble, which the case has clearly shown.

I never once said that Martin had any right or cause to attack GZ - he didn't! But if he had known who GZ was, the results may have ended much differently and no one would have died.

And as I had said, since GZ didn't identify himself, Martin could have put on his big boy pants and identified himself, saying he was on his way to his dad's home.

You don't go silently stalking each other in the dead of night like a couple of rabid animals......

Communication can often be a good thing.

US government engages in unprecedented espionage against its own citizens? Murmurs and ignorant support of the administration.
Zimmerman receives just ruling after year of psychotic persecution? Take to the streets nationwide.

(*)(*)(*)(*)ing hell leftists. We deserve what we get due to your ignorant set of priorities. This is what is destroying our country. This is why we suck. You will tear down the world around you because you don't understand/care about the law. You will allow them to put up walls around you, observe your every thought because you don't understand/care about the law.

    How utterly depressing.

What are you talking about? We have turned fistfighting into televised sport and entertainment. Seems unlikely that would remain legal if it "often" ended in death and permanent maiming.

That is a gross oversimplification of what happened here.

What's more relevant is the percentage of fistfight "and etc." that lead to death. Got that number?

Unless your position is that every 17-year-old who's winning a fistfight deserves to die, that whole paragraph is irrelevant.

Death by stupidity is a fact of life.

If you get drunk and fall asleep on a train tracks do you "deserve" to die?

    No.

But it is a definite possibility.

Do our laws sentence teenagers to death for getting into fistfights? Also, why are you speculating about females getting beaten? Was Trayvon a serial woman-beater? Are you suggesting Zimmerman is a woman? Are you suggesting men convicted of beating women deserve the death penalty? Where do you draw the line between teenagers who get in fistfights and deserve to die and those who get in fistfights and don't deserve to die?

Sure. But Lost Time asked what I meant by my statement that TM didn't "deserve to die." You're right, stupidity does often lead to undeserved death, but most of the time the penalty for stupidity isn't so harsh. Case in point: in the GZ/TM case, one actor's stupidity got him killed, but the other's stupidity only got his face beaten.

I am outraged only if the cops and prosecutors have dropped the case.

Beyond that, it's a nasty crime as the tale is told, certainly. My outrage at the deed itself, though, is diluted by the use you are trying to make of it.

So there was a referee to stop Martin while punching Zimmerman in the head? If you've ever watched an MMA fight, the aggressor keeps punching till the Referee pulls him away. Where was the ref to pull Martin away from Zimmerman?
