Isaiah 5:20 "Woe to them who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." Let me guess, this does not do it for you either.......
I'm glad you chose this one as it further strengthens my point and weakens yours. This scripture does not prove darkness as the equivalent to evil as you have so stated earlier. "Light" denotes truth, knowledge - Jesus said "I am the Light" (new testament but same reference). The use of dark and light in this passage simply expresses more figuratively the meaning of the first part (calling good evil and vice versa). The theme is again further expressed using bitterness and sweetness metaphorically. Surely, you are not saying that something that tastes bitter is evil. Are you?
So if he withdaws himself he is malevolent. And I suppose if he does not withdraw himself he is a task master.
What exactly is evil? Look at the fall of man. Adam and Eve decided to listen to a lie, and they ate the fruit despinte God's warnings. In the end, they swallowed a very bitter pill indeed. For me, it is merely two different sides to the same coin.
